We live in Scotland, but my wife went on a school trip to Switzerland around 2007(ish). She insists that she went to a banana museum during this trip, but we can’t find any proof it ever existed.

I personally think she’s bonkers – (why would you set up an exhibition filled with things that last a fortnight?) – but she’s so adamant, I don’t think she’s making it up intentionally.

Please help – does anyone have any memories of a museum, or an exhibition in a museum, that featured things like adverts for bananas, comics that feature bananas, and (she insists this is true) “something to do with condoms”.

Tell me, is my wife bananas!?

UPDATE: Somebody on the r/askswitzerland subreddit has answered my plea – “She’s not bonkers! The Alimentarium had an exhibition on bananas in 2006/2007. https://www.alimentarium.org/en/museum/exhibition/n%C2%B0-35-sacr%C3%A9e-banane “

Thanks to all the tried to help!

  1. Chiquita offices in Etoy, between Geneva and Lausanne? Maybe the food museum, operated by Nestle, in Vevey?

  2. I found something, but it is from 2011 (and I only found links in German):

Maybe there was a similar exhibition some years earlier (even when I currently can’t find any traces of it)?
