No change to Covid restrictions recommended by NPHET this evening.

  1. I don’t know what all those lunatics who said NPHET (specifically Tony Holohan) were drunk on power are going to do if Omicron is the end of this and they just wrap things up when Covid is actually no longer a major threat our health service…

  2. With this basically 8pm curfew they are really spoiling us. Just an endless cycle of bus-work-bus-home with nothing to look forward to. Cheers NPHET.

  3. Would say we are closer to lifting restrictions than imposing more.

Recent round of restrictions appears to have done very little as evidenced by a case rate that is higher than the UK (Same socialising habits but no restrictions in place).

Genuinely think the political and popular will for restrictions is gone.

  4. So far the current strain of covid isn’t putting people in the ICU as it’s basically a nastier flu attacking the throat but not getting rooted in the lungs. If people are just ending up in hospital but not the ICU the main concern is with healthcare staff being put out with it rather than people dying from it.

It does feel like were in the endgame for this though so hopefully this is truly the last year of this shit.
