I think the British public love Line of Duty because it allows us to believe that internal investigations into police misconduct are thorough and effective. The reality seems to be far from the truth, especially in light of Wayne Couzens.

Ben Monk’s conviction was the first for an assault, manslaughter or murder after a death in custody in over 50 years. Have to go back to a guy getting 8 months for assault in 1969 for the previous one.
West Midlands Police don’t need to be saying “thanks to the ECHR I’m obligated to say we apologize”. They need to be charging the officers responsible for the deaths of Darren Cumberbatch, Sean Fitzgerald, Cameron Whelan and a bunch of others they’ve killed in the last few years. We also need to change our system so that an inquest that returns an “unlawful killing” verdict can’t be fobbed off by the CPS and result in no charges.

Their so-called apology isn’t worth a spit in the gutter. The copper who tased all the way to the chief constable should be in the dock. The one jailed was the scape goat for all the other bent coppers is this coverup. Jail the lot of them and take their pensions. No bent copper should get a pension.
Apologies for kidnapping and raping women. Apologies for killing black footballer. No apology for not investigating Tory Xmas party. Yep, well worth my taxes
The 5 year wait for a trial was a disgrace.
If someone was suspected of killing a copper, they’d be in front of a judge within hours!
