  1. I guess that “Operation Lone Star” money would have been handy right about now.

  2. How’s that independent power grid working out for you, Texas?

    >Texans are facing the fallout of a $3.5 billion debt from the disastrous Winter Storm Uri, with a surcharge added to every natural gas bill to settle the debt over the next 16 years.

    Ah, as expected.

  3. How their governor and representatives still have jobs amazes me – their grid has been shit for years.

  4. This looks like a really great time for their succession plan to go forward.

  5. And the state Government which is 100% controlled by Republicans, and has been for decades, will successfully blame it all on the Democrats in order to get re-elected.

  6. Boy, I bet they are so happy they doubled down on Republicans again.

    /s

Of course they will request an receive a balilout using Blue State tax money, so they probably are fine with it.

  7. And of course they blame wind turbines for the power outages.

  8. One of those years that grid will completely go down and nothing will get it fixed. Here’s to hoping Texans will be ok

  9. # Can ya feel the FREEDOM?!

Why on earth any Texan would think “you know who would run our essential utilities best? Random Texas startups with no accountability!” Is beyond me. Like, have they not met their fellow Texans? Do they not understand that their desire for quick cash isn’t compatible with running an effective power grid with redundancy *even when it’s not as insanely profitable as possible*? Do they not understand that they need power even when it’s not profitable?!

  10. Sending thoughts and prayers from California to you stupid, selfish, duped assholes. You get what you vote for, lol.

  11. There’s that 1-star angle on governance governing exactly as intended again.

  12. Just wait until it happens this year and that number doubles.

  13. How’s that republican free market going for you Texas?

  14. >Texans are facing the fallout of a $3.5 billion debt from the disastrous Winter Storm Uri, with a surcharge added to every natural gas bill to settle the debt over the next 16 years.

Boy… Sure hope they have time to pay this off and don’t have any more storms for the next [*checks notes*]

    …16 years. 😂

Texas’ grid is gonna require federal bailout within the decade.

  15. Don’t forget: ratepayers across the country will also be paying off massive debt for years due to the insane natural gas spot market price spike caused by southern engineering negligence during Uri. Check your fuel adjustment clause rider on your bill to see it, here in MN we’re collectively on the hook for ~$600M, socialism for corporations and brutal capitalism for the rest of us

  16. Anyone would think they must have deliberately undereducated their population at school in order to be able to feed them this shit ….

  17. And I’m sure they’ll cry all the way to the polls where they re-elect the same grifters.

  18. Every time I hear of someone moving to Texas because it’s more affordable, I’m like:
It’s hot as balls, the power infrastructure is shit, and it’s run by Republican nutcases.

  19. And they still wanted to push ‘green energy’ as the problem. Scum.

  20. It amazes me “owning the libs” has become priority for Texas and Florida voters as they continually vote against their own livelihoods lol

  21. Yo Texas! Still liking that “free market” with no government oversight? You have corrupt, incompetent politicians! Do better and replace the thieves and crooks you’ve elected.

  22. Ugh, they better not make minnesota pay for Texas’ power fuck ups again.

  23. So – the folks in Texas were the ones sitting in the dark freezing their butts off – and now they have to pay for doing it?

  24. Texas voters: 3.5 billion debt? Let’s keep voting Republicans anyway!

  25. Socialized costs for privatized profits, once again.

    BOHICA, Texans.

  26. Socialism is alive and well in America. It’s just confined to the rich though.

  27. That Greg Abbott really owns the libs, tho! 😠

    Keep voting for Republicans, TX

  28. I live in PA. Both electric and gas rates up 40% and we have well run utilities, I wish what happens in Texas stayed in Texas.

  29. They blame it on wind an solar electric. It seems that wind an solar working the northern states just fine. Texas has the dumbest voters. We’ll all red states do. They vote against themselves all the time. Just keep watching right wing news an getting lied to . You get what you vote for.

  30. Ah, corporate socialism again. Privatize the gains, socialize the losses.

  31. Lack of accountability and poor planning are the problem. The system was not created to solve problems. It was created to make money at the expense of ratepayers. One partial solution to insufficient power supply would be to create a tiered system in which the last to lose power would be nursing homes, hospitals and most private residences. The first to lose power should be crypto mining farms and the private residences of ERCOT officials and politicians.
