Ther is a bicycle path alongside my garden that has a streetlight which used to be quite dim but has been replaced with an overly bright LED spot rated for a soccer stadium. In addition, one of my neighbours has installed a floodlight that he runs all night long. There used to be a tree blocking the light but has been cut down (it was dead). So at night my backyard looks like this. Are there any legal ways to enforce some more darkness? They’re not the kind of people to respond to a just asking.

  1. [Lichthinder info Vlaamse Overheid.](https://omgeving.vlaanderen.be/nl/beleid-lichthinder)

I don’t get people like this. My wife and I had a walk around our village yesterday night, we moved recently. SO MANY houses that have big lamps on a stupid tree in front of their house, or floodlights with sensors that see you 10-15 meters away on the street. Why? I’d like to see SOME stars, not your dumbass tree AT NIGHT. It’s not like YOU are looking at it, it’s not even a nice tree, it’s just a dumb birch!

  2. Stupidity has no boundaries… You could an airgun and have some fun at night popping those lights!

  3. I had the same problem. A factory was shining a light stronger than streetlights straight into my living room and garden. Couldn’t look outside because the light was so annoying.

I emailed omgevingsinspectie about light polution, and they removed the light now.
