  1. Reminder that the worst enemy of Russia is Russia itself. If Russia simply just took the L and allowed Ukraine to join the EU, they would have an ally within the EU and would have a huge advantage. Ukraine also wouldn’t have any urge to join NATO, NATO was actually very unpopular in Ukraine before 2014. Most Ukrainians did not want to join NATO and wanted friendly relations with Russia.

However, Russia’s subversive efforts and imperial interest made all of this pretty much impossible. By invading Crimea in 2014 and doing their subversive activities in the Donbass, they revitalized the need for NATO. NATO at this time was an alliance that was sagging, left without purpose and seen as a relic of the cold war. Russia by invading Ukraine validated NATO’s entire existence.

Russia has quite the habit of alienating allies (as seen with Ukraine and Armenia), it’s actually astounding at how stupid they are…

Ukraine is now seen as a pro west country. All thanks to Russian fuckery, if Russia wasn’t this comically evil maybe Ukraine wouldn’t need to be pro west. Maybe it could’ve had close relations with Russia.
