You earn respect you are not given it by default and given the laws track record, i.e being lenient with some people with hundreds of offences, or sex offenders, or violence…..fuck them with lines like that.

Five raids on a 76 year old man’s home in the space of one year because he’s growing plants. This is a fucking outrageous waste of time and resources. It’s simply immoral. Leave the man be for Christ’s sake.

There’s no victim. The offender is in his 70s. There’s no evidence this was for any more than personal use.
One of the other top articles on r/ireland is about reduced road enforcement while deaths are rising and here we have a 76 year old man whose house has been raided 5 times over the course of a year.

Kill a child. 18 months.
Try him before a jury of his peers, not a single one would convict him.
Yet another case of cowardice by Garda command.
Fair play to him, not allowing himself to be intimidated, and standing by his principles.
Doing nothing to nobody.
How the fuck do rank and file gardai live with themselves?
Stolen bikes, assaults, harassment, feral children, can’t be arsed citizens.
