  1. Who’d have thought devolution was restrictive. Time for all the powers we need.

  2. tbh the council tax freeze cant help but fundamentally stopping an economy from borrowing when the entire global system is built on borrowing is a bit wild.

If we were an independent nation then not borrowing at least would reduce risk at the cost of growth; but right now we share the borrowing risk with the UK govt; but without the advantages of it.

Like even if your not pro-indy giving the scotgov borrowing powers that are overseen by the HMRC surely would be smart, even if itd end up being a stick used to beat scotgov with.

  3. Our current spending is unsustainable.

There is a good reason the EU limits its members’ deficits to 3% wherever possible.

It will be very painful, but the trade off is that if our public spending can be brought under control then independence actually becomes much more feasable.

Ofc if they had managed the economy better since 2007 thibgs might be different.

  4. Time for Scotland to put its money where its mouth is and pursue full financial autonomy (also referred to as devo max). End the transfers from London and let Scotland keep all the tax revenue raised in Scotland, while being fully responsible for its own spending. It’s a sensible stepping stone for independence without the disruption, like the model used in the Basque Country.

If Scotland can show that it can pay in full for its own services off the taxes that the Scottish government sets and collects, that would also surely bolster the call for independence.

  5. The Autumn Statement will be interesting to see, decisions made there could lead to additional (or less) barnett consequentials, and if tax is cut – it could lead to an increase in revenue from the BGA (depending on the tax).

  6. Let’s just forget it, let Labour come in and defo not go Full Tory, not privatise everything, no prescription charges or tuitions fees, no sewage in the water, no education system MAT trashfire……….. and if they do….well I mean that’s what people voted for?

Let’s let democracy decide and be all better Together……in the shite

  7. We don’t even exercise all the devolved power we have, how can anyone take this government seriously. Imagine getting a job, being told you need to take out bins AND put them back. Instead you take out the bin and leave it outside. Who would then believe you can handle more responsibility? It’s honestly laughable that people think that will be a solution to anything.
