Caught a little of this. A professional, respectful and grown up debate.
A good day for Scottish Parliamentary democracy.
One assumes there will be at least one back bench arse who ruins it but the front benches speeches were alright.
And justfull gesture 🙏🏽🇵🇸🙏🏽 probably antisemtic tho
Reddit user u/Tennants_Lager calls upon Rangers to win the Scottish Premiership, the Scottish Cup and the Viaplay Cup this season.
It’s gonna be a tough sell to recognise the state of Palestine while they’re being governed by a internationally classified Terrorist organisation.
This needs to happen. All people with an ounce of humanity need to call for this!
No thanks! Not while Hamas are in charge and holding hostages. It just encourages any breakaway regions to commit the most horrific acts of terrorism imaginable. Palestine have to become less extremist to stand a chance at being a real country. Independence for Palestine today wouldn’t help anything.
Nah fuck the terrorist and thier supporters.
Palestine doesn’t recognise Israel. Which was previously one of the major stumbling blocks to piece.
Hams doesn’t control Palestine which isn’t just Gaza which is not the same as the West Bank which isn’t controlled by Hamas.
>It is essential and urgent that the UK makes clear to the Israeli Government, and to the world, that in line with support for a two state solution, only Palestinians can have authority in Gaza. **Of course, that authority must be exercised in a way that ensures the people of Israel, as well as Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, are able to live in peace and security.**
>The UK needs to work with the international community to break, once and for all, the political impasse that has condemned Israelis and the Palestinians to successive cycles of violence. This would be assisted were the UK to recognise the State of Palestine within the 1967 borders, as over 130 members of the United Nations, including nine members of the European Union, have done and as the new Spanish Government has pledged.
>Recognition would offer hope to Palestinians that a just and durable political solution is possible. It would make it plain to the Israeli Government that a military solution is illusory and the expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza is unacceptable.
Yousaf is saying that as is accepted cross party, there needs to be a 2 state solution and working to recognise Palestine as a state could bring a 2 state solution closer to fruition and end the impasse, with support from the international community.
If he denounces Hamas… Be like watching a game of political chicken.
Again just… useless. There is no Scottish foreign policy. Their Westminster MPs should be doing this, their MSPs are just sending a strongly-worded letter.
I understand it’s more about point-scoring than real power, but I still think that’s lamentable.
I agree, while i’m pretty sure it’s effectively useless, it’s a start on increasing international pressure for actual peace agreements.
Pointless politial posturing.
F*ck. Off.
I wish the guy was more focused on Scotland
Its too easy for this clown to shout on behalf of the mob, knowing fine well he has about as much authority on the issue as a 5 year old. Please Humza stay in your lane.
If the Palestinians could oust the hardcore antisemitism and recognise Israel then the Israelis could soften their stance, oust Likud and the Islamophobes and recognise Palestine, get the moderates and adults to the table, draw up a 2 state solution with UN peacekeeper enforced borders, no more rockets, no more settlements, 2 separate states with a neutrally enforced border.
One can dream eh.
Should have done it generations ago.
Which state, there isn’t even a process yet. And the PA hardly shown themselves the best negotiating partner with them pretending the barbarous festival attack was apparently done “ by Israeli helicopters”….
Yousaf should start being serious and demand more of the PA so that an actual peace process has some chance.
That would never happen while they are under Hamas rule, we should NOT legitimise Hamas.

Recently, the new [Spanish government](https://euroweeklynews.com/2023/04/28/spain-vows-to-recognise-palestine-as-a-state-during-meeting/) has announced that they will work on recognising Palestine as a state. [Norway](https://www.trtworld.com/europe/norway-parliament-calls-for-recognition-of-independent-palestinian-state-15860574) also recently voted to be ready to recognise Palestine as a state.
