  1. britain needs to stand firm on this issue. sovereignty should not be up for negotiation. it’s important to uphold international law.

  2. Is there anything of worth on these islands, like oil, gas, rare earth materials or is just a rock in the ocean ?
I understand the strategical worth of it for the uk, but not what Argentina gains.

  3. How can you get back something that was never yours and belonged to someone before you even existed?

  4. What he actually proposed (which is written in the article, but doesn’t make for a catchy headline) is a Hong Kong-like arrangement for the Falklands:

“Now we have to see how we are going to get them back. It is clear that the war option is not a solution. What we are proposing is to move towards a solution like the one England had with China over the Hong Kong issue and that in this context the position of the people who live on the islands cannot be ignored.”

  5. Argentina is in an economic black hole and this guy talks about the Falklands ? What a pathetic idiot !

  6. Argies can try to debate sovereignty issue with Royal fuckin’ Navy, as far the reality is concerned. 🇬🇧 stay strong.

  7. Name a more iconic duo than “Argentinian Politicians” and “Vowing to get the Falkland islands back.”

I’ll accept “The British Empire” and “Aquiring islands”

  8. Islanders want to be part of the country that gives them the most benefits. Neither country has a real claim on the island(in my mind) but one of them is a helluva lot closer to the island. Imagine someone came and colonized isle of mann from south east asia and refused to even talk about colateral agreements with the local powers. Seems nationalistic to hold on so hard to these assets all things considered and i realize UK isnt the only european country with overseas assets.

  9. “He has spoken openly about his preference for threesomes and how he enjoys communicating via telepathy with his dead dog for political advice.”

His dead dog gave him bad political advice about the islands

  10. Sabre-rattling of the highest degree. Argentina can’t afford to attack it, and we can’t afford to defend it!

But it does achieve the desired effect for both parties: it drums up ‘rar rar rar’ support in the populace.

  11. I wouldn’t worry about it, claming the Falklands is a nervous tic for argentinian politicians at this point, it’s some kind of hyper specific variant of Asperger’s

  12. Off the coast of Argentina, our Islands came to be

With eighteen hundred people, and a half a million sheep

The day they were invaded everybody learned the name

A barren little colony had got a bit of fame

We stocked our ships full of British beer and bullets

We mobilised the navy and we called up thе marines

We sailed two weeks ’til wе reached the Falkland Islands

So we could teach a lesson to those bloody Argentines

  13. Why is major support for this conflict towards the UK? Have you no map? xD

  14. Falkland Islands will always be red, white and blue as the Union Jack.

  15. You people eat up headlines so easily, when this guy has a million things more relevant against.

  16. It’s amazing how liberal media suddenly developed interest in bad news from Argentina after completely ignoring 20 years of bad news that happened under lw administrations.

    I wonder what changed.

  17. Careful now Javier, don’t let them send Prince Andrew back down there

  18. I see the propaganda machine has already swung into action.

The guy’s comments were totally reasonable and in line with every Argentinian President since the Falklands War. Go and look them up.

  19. I looked into this guy, he’s actually quite a moderate on this issue. He had to up the rhetoric about the Falklands on the campaign trail as other candidates were using it as a stick to beat him with.

  20. UK defending this sounds like a guy who r🦍d 57 women: “Hey, I swear it was consensual with the #58 girl”

  21. Its always been hilarious how the anti west crowd suout about Colonialism blah blah blah and then ignore the Falkland Islanders as if they werent there. The Falkland Islanders ARE the natives. Nobody wa settled there before them.

I understand every Argentinian leader has to say this shit about the Falklands but they always storm off/get angry when you bring up the Islanders because they know that if anybody is the wannabe imperialists, its themselves.

Hell, every Argentinian president has had a suspicuously European surname. Rules for thee but not for me.

  22. Can we just not. If the tories stay in power because of the Falklands again, I’m going to lose my mind.
