  1. Didn’t he like not even give a shit about the original as it was being made?

  2. The same thing he said about Beetlejuice 2… and now is directing the sequel

  3. A prequel that covers the story of Jack vs Oogie would be spectacular, but it doesn’t seem like we’re going to get that

  4. The pumpkin queen novel is a damn good continuation. Personally would love it adapted.

  5. Honestly, I’m okay with this. I saw it in the theater when I was a kid, and making a sequel/prequel/reboot would feel like trying to put lightning in a bottle.

  6. Can we stop with milking older successful movies and create new things. Too many suits not enough creativity

  7. In short, this will 100% happen. With or without his input. Too much money to be made and that shit talks. Disney rakes it in from this property constantly year around but especially from September through October.

  8. Yep good choice. No need for remakes, theyll just butcher it anyway.

  9. I agree stop sequels just make original movies

  10. Hey now, I’d pay to see a sequel named The Nightmare Before Christmas: Get Off My Land!

  11. I was surprised to learn that his role in the originally movies was primarily coming up with the top-line idea and designing the primary characters. Needless to say the movie would not exist without his stroke of inspiration. However, the work of actually fleshing out and making the movie was done almost entirely by other people, including Danny Elfman, who is responsible for a lot of the plot points

  12. A reboot seems pointless. I’d be OK with a series of shorts exploring the side characters.

  13. Tim Burton is the voice of reason. Let that sink in. Shame that they’re just going to wait until he dies to do it

  14. How about a series of short films? Like the Pixar films?

And how about we ask the actual people who wrote the story and directed the film and created the effects, not the guy who came up with the original idea?

  15. Well technically it’s not even your land. It’s Selick’s

  16. I love some of Tim’s early films (Ed Wood, in particular) and I’m generally sympathetic to wishes to not do sequels etc, but it’s a little weird to hear this from the guy who chose to direct remakes of films that were already established classics. I can think of at least 3 off the top of my head. He doesn’t seem to mind going on other people’s lands, even if he doesn’t want others on his.

  17. You know how much shit this movie got when it came out?! How much shit they gave Danny Elfman?!

Loved it, saw it in theaters as a kid. Didn’t find out until later in life how much critics hated it. Now they praise it twice a year..

Bend the knee to greatness when in its presence or eat your words later.

  18. Film is a classic. Doesn’t need a sequel or reboot.

  19. I always wanted another movie with the other doors, like some weird ass Easter bunny steal thanksgiving or something

  20. Disney still makes a ton off of the merch. There’s way too much money to be had and they’re desperate. We’ll have a sequel announced within 5 years. Nothing is sacred anymore.

  21. Hey Tim, that land belongs to Henry Selick just as much as it belongs to you!

  22. Didn’t we say everything that needed to be said in the original? What else do you need to explore in that topic?

  23. Wonderful, also not his movie so who fucking cares

  24. Not everything needs a reboot. TNBC is a classic that will live on forever.

  25. Maybe if he made it I’d care more about his input
