[Premier League: Newcastle United clear to loan Saudi Pro League players after vote – BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67490620)

13 teams voted against it, but were 1 vote short.

How do you think this will impact the league going forward?
Which teams do you think voted in favour of it?

  1. As are any other club in the league. This became a Newcastle only issue after the sun made up some BS story about Neves.

  2. Disgraceful

    This is going to be abused by all the nation state teams from here on in.

  3. There’s 11 clubs this helps not just Newcastle sick to death hearing it’s all about Newcastle.

  4. Newcastle needs to circumvent FFP rules so they don’t get a points deduction like Everton. So they need to be able to loan players from clubs that their owners also own. (Al Nassr, Al Hilal, Al Ittihad, and Al Ahli for reference)

  5. I for one am excited for the wide partnership of Neymar and Almiron

  6. PL Team: Get bought out by a rich Arab state.

    Rich Arab State: buy the world’s best players for it’s shitty local league.

    Rich Arab State: loan world’s best players to it’s PL club.

    PL Team: breaks football.

  7. Everyone obsessed with Newcastle not realising this has been exploited by other clubs for years.

  8. * Man City
    * Chelsea
    * Newcastle
    * Brentford
    * Crystal Palace
    * Brighton
    * Forest
    * West Ham
    * Arsenal

    All have owners who have a controlling stake in one or more clubs in other leagues. I reckon out of these Arsenal would have voted against cos it’s only Colorado Rapids they’re linked with I think. Not sure about others.

  9. Shooting a dead horse at this point. It’s already dead, you just can’t smell it yet.

  10. Every day this league gets fucking worse. It’s soon time to just abandon football all together, I just don’t fucking know how to save it at this point

  11. Only Newcastle? Wow. That was nice of all the other clubs …

  12. This is no different than United signing players from Nice now, which I’m sure none of you have a problem with. The hypocrisy is oh so real

  13. Can’t believe Newcastle voted for this 7 times! Jokes obviously. Not saying I agree with this or that it’s good for the game but sick of the incessant Newcastle bashing.

  14. Stupid allowing this, why do they need 14 votes anyway? Surely 11 should be enough, more than 50%.

    Newcastle can basically cheat FFP now and do a Man City. We don’t want another Man City buying titles. This decision is a disaster.

    Newcastle are now being given the green light to cheat. Meanwhile poor Everton are docked 10 points. Remember Newcastle were going down and would have likely been in the Championship if it wasn’t for these Saudi’s.

  15. So many babies crying over something that has never happened or will ever happen. Acting all righteous & insulting Newcastle and their fans, you lot do it out of jealousy but disguise it as concern for the games “integrity”. You don’t have any arguments on morality so fuck right off with that shit clowns

  16. Heaven forbid a vote is held and the clubs abide by the results of the vote.

  17. No club should have owners that have other clubs in other leagues in the first place

  18. If you need 14 to vote against, now there’s a Big Seven, everything that benefits the big clubs can be approved

  19. I’m sorry but why was this on a vote in the first place? Do all loaned players from other leagues were voted before signing?

  20. Can we please wait to see what happens in January. In the last 2 years, I have seen some great scouting by Newcastle, but no abuse of their billions. To say they are competing in the Champions League because of the star players they brought in since the takeover is nonsense. For example, of the 15 players who were involved in beating Arsenal 2 weeks ago (and holding them down to one shot on goal), 9 were carryovers from the Ashley era, and the other 6 cost Newcastle about $20 million less than Arsenal paid for Rice and Havertz combined. Credit where it’s due, Howe inherited a mediocre team, and with a few signings of players that we’re hardly household names, as well as outstanding coaching, has created a very good team.

  21. Reports Newcastle, Sheff Utd, Man City, Chelsea, Everton, Wolves, Forest voted against.

  22. a) Instead of football teams, there will be groups of clubs owned by the same Sovereign Investment Fund / plc / James Bond villain. The FFP limits will be ammortised for the group, and players transferred at will between group clubs, making a mockery of the FFP regulations.

    b) Probably the same clubs who were up for the European breakway league, plus a few who think they can join up at a later date.

    c) I give up. Everton thrown (and I’m not a blue) to the wolves over breaking the FFP reg while UK ambassadors emailing the PIF over the Newcastle takeover. Shenanigans with Chelsea, Manchester City, now Spurs. World Cups bought and sold like trinkets for the prestige and junkets for oligarchs, celebs and their hangers on. I give up. It’s not a sport. It’s not a business. It’s not even anything I recognise anymore. It’s just rotten to the core.

    I’ll pay a tenner to watch my local club, have a cup of boiling Bovril in the rain, and cheer on a bunch of lads working as joiners and call centre monkeys during the week. Because they’re still footballers, and that’s still football.

  23. I would have thought that keeping all of the expensive talent in the Saudi league is the aim though right? Why pay all that money to raise the standard/profile of your league to send the best of them to Newcastle?
    Not sure how loaning a player for 6 months or even a year would help Newcastle really? Takes our new signings a while to get up to speed with Eddies training/tactics so not a great move really, it would be better to loan with an option to buy which might end up happening.
    Personally hope loans from Saudi don’t happen for any club but these are the rules that the clubs wanted… Along with no automated offsides, seems like the clubs aren’t capable of managing themselves anymore but seems to be the Newcastle fans getting the stick again instead.

  24. How exactly is this a Newcastle issue when the majority of PL clubs voted against the rule changes? Yet another example that fans shouldnt sit on their high horses as the clubs know they are involved in shady shit

  25. This really is only an issue if Newcastle brings in players that make them better. No one cares if Newcastle brings in Hendo.

  26. Queue the “cry more” comments from the Newcastle fans who don’t have a valid response to criticism

  27. Some absolute bedwetters in here mind. I guess now we know how City fans have felt for years with these moaning bastards.

  28. I cant wait to see Neymar and Benzema play for Newcastle lol

    Honestly though, as unfair as this is, I always did want to see some of those guys play in the premier league.

    Also how stupid is Sheikh Mansour that he never thought of doing this. (Edit, I think this is wrong, but it kind of exposes how much smarter the Saudi ownership is than Sheikh Mansour and his staff.)

  29. Ahh, got it – Chelsea can’t be sponsored by Paramount but Newcastle’s owners can loan themselves players. Excellent.
