As intended – the Tories love mass migration and will never change it. The alternative would be paying better wages and increasing job conditions in areas like nursing, which is of course unacceptable.
They’ve won multiple elections to ‘lower migration’ and sky-high majorities to ‘lower migration’, they won Brexit to ‘lower migration’, they fought for and passed a no-deal Brexit to ‘lower migration’, and… migration is higher than ever.
Because the Tories love mass migration.
Lol, good job we got rid of that uncontrolled immigration Labour oversaw when figures were spiralling to just over 250,000.
700,000 is roughly two Brighton and Hoves of hospitals, homes, schools, colleges, universities, GP’s, etc..
Every year.
That needs to be built just to tread water.
Does anyone even remotely think this is within the power of either the Labour party or Tory party, to achieve?
Does anyone have a plan, that could REMOTELY come close to achieving that level of infrastructure building each year?
I think anyone who answers yes, is absolutely deluded.
So what is the alternative? Is there an easier alternative?
On one hand we’ve got build hundreds of thousands of homes, 8 hospitals, 20 schools, 4 universities, god knows how many GP surgeries and dentists.. Every year.
Requires masses of government spending, hundreds of thousands of workers, tons of government time, and the destruction of natural habitats.
And on the other we have an act of parliament making the requirements to emigrate to the UK, extremely strict.
Which requires about a week of writing by a few MP’s, and a vote in parliament.
Which seems more sane, to ask of our politicians?
Which seems like the more achievable solution to the problems we’re facing right now?
I literally don’t care about any other issue now. I will vote for anyone with a hardline stance on non European people coming here. Which is to say I won’t be voting.
I’m curious, how much of the net migration bump from the last 2 years is due to Brits no longer being able to easily move the EU?
So many people argue that the increase is down to a post-covid era increase in international students and so aren’t relevant to the statistic, but where are they staying? Crammed into ever-denser house shares like tinned sardines? How does that impact the rental market?
That’s impossible, the Tories are fringe far-right lunatics, twitter said so!
After all this record levels of immigration, gay marriage being introduced, paying people not to work, printing money to give away to people, subsidising people’s energy bills and arresting people for misgendering, I’m starting to think that maybe they’re just far-right, not fringe far-right.
Anything to not pay people and catch upto inflation
But remember, the massive increase in demand for housing has nothing to do with why it now costs so much more and is harder to get. Reddit economic experts have assured us that supply and demand does NOT apply to housing. Or the labour market, for that matter.
…. And they still blame immigrants for the poor performance of the services they’ve slashed to the bone… And a significant amount of voters still believe them!!!
Given net EU migration has been negative since Brexit, the whole Brexit referendum feels like a monkey’s paw wish

Notice how no UK political party ever lowers migration, because that would be bad for the rich.
I’m conservative but I hope the tories get annihilated at the elections. And they’ll be an actual right party that’s competent in the future.
What a complete Clusterfuck.
And these numbers are what they know of, how many have come that aren’t included in these figures.
It is completely unsustainable, I only wish I was in the position to join the Leavers.
This Country is Fucked.
Oh look its the tough on immigration party. I still know people who vote Tory and use immigration as an excuse
Bloody hell lads, we live in a two party state and both of them are flooding us with migrants. We are doomed.
Net migration is not people extending visas. They are already here. Net migration is not international students. Net migration is not people on work visas. Net migration is the people who have gained citizenship against people that have gained citizenship elsewhere from here. Net migration is not the very few relative to this that come on boats and get put in floating death camps.
I’m an analyst by trade. You can make number say whatever you want by changing the calculation. Like they did with employment numbers or those on benefits. This is what politicians do. They make losses look like wins and wins look like losses.
The point of all this mucking about with numbers is the next general election. The Tories will push it as a referendum on the boats and Rwanda. Labour whilst they may look ahead will have lost a lot of votes due to their very rigid stance on Israel. Not getting into that here but it’s a fact. I think after the next election it will be a hung parliament or more of the Tories. That juicy tax cut is going to swing a lot of votes which is strange when you think about it. Best not to put more money in peoples pocket from wage rises but it’s ok to do it via tax cuts because inflation. Who knew? Inflation is also a number they like to mess about with the calculation of or they just ask their mates in business to lower certain prices to make it artificially lower.

We have to understand that the number is 700,000 because of all the Europeans are now considered emigrants right? All the europeans previosly free to study or work now have to take a Visa. Anyway lets see a breakdown of how these numbers stack up
Out of 900.000 people emigrating to uk in 2022:
A total of 304,000 are student Visas, which pay at least 20k a year student fees and another 5-10k in rent+uttilities + food and other expenses at around 10K. That can’t be considered a bad result from emigrants right ?
254,000 are work visas (required to be paid more than the average and only in positions of need to be issued, so not here to take minimal wage positions) fully taxed (90% pay rent too).
114,000 are Ukraine Visas.
That leaves asylum seakers at 79,000 total and 59,000 family visas, and some other.
Another 100,000 are british nationals overseas and other types of Visas.
Blaming anyone is lazyness, and the government blaming immigrants for everything is just a scapegoat, to cover their own inability to lead aswell as rampant corruption.
Well you can’t blame them, this is such a great place to be! /s
Disappointing to see such anti-immigrant rhetoric here.
Oh look its that problem that everyone keeps saying isn’t a problem.
How surprising /s , the article makes no mention of emigration
