Hi everyone,

Need to change summer tires for winter tires, and buy new winter tires.. Could someone please explain how I can know which size/type of tires to buy? Is that visible on the current tires (pic)?
Overall, is this something I can do/order myself? Or how much easier/better is it to do it in a Autowerkstadt?

Thanks

  1. It doesn’t say on the pic.

The format you’re looking for looks something like this:

xxx/xx Rxx (x will be numbers)

    e.g. 185/65 R15

You can order tires yourself, but you will need a tire shop to put the tires on the rims and do the balancing. You can’t do that without specialized machinery.

EDIT: Some cars may also have different sizes in the front and in the back. If you have no idea what your car has and which tires you need/want, it may be wise to head directly to a tire shop and have them order and install new tires for you.

  2. Also these tires on the Pic are from 2009, you should consider changing them regardless the wear on them.

  3. You should check your tyre DOT number!

    Your nr.: 0509 means 2009 week 5
    It’s too old.
