  1. They won’t stop until Miami is no longer fabulous.

  2. It also creates a new category of “deeply held” beliefs protected by law: “It is an unlawful employment practice for an employer to take adverse personnel action against an employee or a contractor because of the employee’s or contractor’s deeply held religious or biology-based beliefs, including a belief in traditional or Biblical views of sexuality and marriage, or the employee’s or contractor’s disagreement with gender ideology, whether those views are expressed by the employee or contractor at or away from the worksite.”

So make it illegal to fire a open homophobe if he says it is part of his religious beliefs.

  3. >Florida Republican Rep. Ryan Chamberlin has introduced new state legislation that is effectively a “Don’t Say Gay” bill for the workplace. It also contains provisions that could make it impossible for LGBTQ+ nonprofits to operate in the state.
Filed on Tuesday, H.B. 599 would ban state and local government employees and contractors from providing their preferred pronouns or titles (such as Mr., Mrs., or Ms.) if they do not correspond to their sex assigned at birth, which it defines as “an immutable biological trait.” It also bans state and local governments from asking employees and contractors for their preferred pronouns and from requiring them to refer to anyone else by their preferred pronouns or titles.

    >As journalist Erin Reed points out, the bill’s definition of “contractor” encompasses “a huge number of businesses, such as stadiums, convention centers, major hospitals, insurance agencies, and more.” H.B. 599, Reed writes, would “effectively banning social transition at work” for employees of these types of businesses.
The bill also targets “nonprofit organizations or an employer who receives funding from the state.”
“It is an unlawful employment practice for a nonprofit organization or an employer who receives funding from the state to require, as a condition of employment, any training, instruction, or other activity on sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression,” the bill reads.

  4. Maybe a lawyer or political scholar could provide some guidance but isn’t this bill very unconstitutional. It gives preference to Christianity and seems to limit free speech.

  5. Watch Cardi B protest abuses against LGBTQ people In 2024 after sitting home and helping get Trump elected along with a Republican House and Senate.

  6. Florida Republican Rep. Ryan Chamberlin. Christo-Fascist fanatic.

  7. But also “freedom!!” And untaxed churches can still talk about how bad gay people are!! Rules for thee and not for me, and all that.

  8. If we’re banning non-profits we don’t agree with them ban churches as well

  9. Oh wait no way, the exact thing we all said would happen after Republicans claimed it was just to protect the children.

This was the plan all along.

  10. The GOP thinks freedom and liberty means the freedom to own guns and go to church.

  11. Alright folks, place your bets. How long until they drop ALL pretense and just straight up start calling for the involuntary commitment/imprisonment of all LGBTQ+ people? Hell, how long until they just start saying Jews, Muslims, atheists, Pagans, Catholics, Liberals, Communists, Democrats, reporters, intellectuals, etc. need to share the same fates? That day’s a’coming, everyone. The mask is just *flying* off!

  12. So.. when do we get to call out that the Right Wing is waging a Holy Crusade in America? or is that still “hyperbole”?

Sure doesn’t seem like hyperbole to me.

  13. Eventually, businesses and everybody else will stop talking about LGBTQ all on their own. And THAT’S what Republicans are afraid of. They need the conflict to keep their base mad, keep swing voters from voting blue, as well as keeping hispanics from voting Democratic in places like Texas and Florida.

Unfortunately, you can’t even point out that this is why they’re doing it without drawing friendly fire.

  14. Without clicking, gonna guess this crypto-Nazi is a state legislator from… Florida.

    And so he is.

This is a batshit bigoted bill filed in a state with a Republican state legislative supermajority to pass it and a batshit bigot as Governor inclined to sign it.

Hopefully this despicable bill falters, but Florida has sadly become a political cesspool of petty retribution, whitewashing racism and weaponizing state government to harass/disenfranchise/stigmatize already highly marginalized populations.

  15. Just imagine if they focused just 1% of the energy they’re spending on depriving LGBTQ citizens of their rights on fighting for clean air, affordable housing, better education and clean water. Oh yeah… and a complimentary 12 month Porn Hub subscription for House Speaker Mike Johnson.

America would be better for it.

  16. These scumbags all know the 2A but none seem to know the 1st…

  17. I’m pretty sure we have a Constitution that says you can’t do that. One of the first amendments, I think.

  18. Well, as Republicans always say, the 2nd amendment protects citizens from a tyrannical government. Might be time to start taking that to heart.

  19. Things these fascist don’t care about.

    The Constitution
    Laws
    Individual Rights
    State Rights
    The text of the Bible
    Personal Hygiene

  20. Deeply held belief in bullshit fairy tales and magical thinking to be protected by law? By that logic somebody is going to figure out a way to turn it against bigots.

  21. Florida continues to run a great marketing campaign to let us know where else to spend our high income bracket, gay-ass money.

  22. Of course it’s Florida.

Though I was also expecting Tennessee.

  23. It talks about tax exempt organizations not being able to require training on gender or sexuality. Aren’t churches tax exempt? Doesn’t the Bible, have things to say about gender and sexuality?

  24. If Trump wins, it’s going to be illegal to say “I’m gay” in a little over a year.

It’s going to be the closet, the concentration camp, or going to war.

Vote, so LGBTQ people don’t have to make that choice. Even if you don’t like Biden, that’s the hand we’ve been dealt and the alternative is anyone who isn’t a Southern Baptist’s worst nightmare.

  25. Then Muslims, then non whites, then women, then non land owning men.

  26. You know what? I’m glad bills like this are being proposed. I always thought I was gay, but if this passes and I’m not allowed to talk about it, I think I might realize I’m actually straight! Problem solved! /s

  27. I’m so tired of these fucking assholes. Please shut the fuck up Ryan Chamberlin.

  28. GOP Lawmakers: “The first amendment only matters when it protects my speech.”

  29. Funny how it doesn’t mention church or religion, but seems to import religious law.

  30. How closeted and repressed are you if you can’t even handle people referencing any sexuality, so much so that you want to outlaw it? People are wild.

  31. Watching from Australia- it’s really fucking scary! Look , I know Biden is old. But Trump is a fascist.

How can there even be difficulty in deciding between them?

And that doesn’t address the effects of the policies that have been implemented by the Democrats.

Or the insanity of the Republican establishment! Jesus Christ the speaker of the House of Representatives believes that the world is only 6000 years old. And doesn’t have a bank account? Shares an account with his son!!! 🤦🏽‍♀️ where they monitor each others phone to make sure there’s no porn?!?
    WTF?

But you’re also contagious- I don’t want my country to become even more like yours. A good thing about here is that our electorates aren’t decided by our politicians. That helps.

  32. WE FUCKING EXIST. GET OVER IT. WE’RE NOT GOING AWAY. Fuck these fascist shit bags. If you vote Republican don’t fucking talk to me, you offer nothing positive to ANYONE
