I live in Bern with fibre connection and I’ve been a happy Swisscom customer for years (Internet, TV and mobile), coverage, speed etc. all solid and great customer service and occasional benefits (e.g. M1iPad Pro as a gift for CHF200 and when I built up CHF200 in roaming charges as I was in Japan during a big earthquake, they split it 50/50).

However, the price difference from other providers is now too high.

I currently pay 114.80 (10GBit/s + M TV) + 60 (Blue Mobile M) for a total of CHF174.80 per month , my partner also paying CHF60 per month for Blue Mobile M.

I’ve spent quite some time investigating and will switch to Wingo Europe (CHF26.95 + CHF5 for 5G) for a total of 31.95, almost half the price. Main difference is my roaming limit per month is 20GB instead of 40, which is plenty anyway. That part is a no-brainer.

The Internet + TV part is what I’m not 100% sure about.

Well, for TV I have decided to use Zattoo Premium, I just tried it, the app on Apple TV is solid, it has good quality and has all the normal channels plus the likes of BBC Scotland HD, which as a Scot, is a big plus.

Internet speed and stability are important as I work from home, do plenty of streaming, gaming etc. so I want to make the correct decision.

I have looked at the following:

* Init7 – Great reputation, easy7 can be combined with Tattoo for CHF67 per month, doubt being the Fritzbox they supply.
* Salt – Questionable reliability and I remember how bad customer service was in the orange days so less keen.
* Green – Owned apparently by SVP politician, no thanks.
* Sunrise – Via alao, 1GBit/s is only CHF35 per month but 2 year contract so locked in for a long time if they’re shit.
* Yallo – same as sunrise, but 10Gbit/s for CHF39
* M-Budget – Same equipment, Swisscom line as I have now, would drop to 1000 up/200 down for CHF50 per month
* [www.prepaid-internet.ch](https://www.prepaid-internet.ch) \- 49 per month for 1000/1000 with no contract, can quit anytime.
* Quickline – CHF35 for 1 year then up to 80 so average of CHF58 per month for 2 years

I know init7 have a lot of fans here, the easy7 router seems as if it may be a step down though, the Yallo offer is tempting due to the price.

Help!

  1. I just suck it up, pay the extra and live hassle free work Swisscom instead of getting 4 different contracts to do the same and save 50 bucks per month…

  2. Init7 isn’t limited to the Fritzbox, that’s just the loan device for Easy7. If you go with Fiber7 you can have the Zyxel or the MikroTik, or even use your own device with the media converter (I personally picked this route).
