(The app is iOS only)

Hi, Max here – I’m an indie developer from Lviv, Ukraine. I’m a language-learning enthusiast, and for a long time, my language-learning process was a mixed bag of everything. However, I never found any apps to be useful for anything except building up vocabulary. So I did what we engineers usually do – I built my own. Please welcome Natulang: the app for speaking, not tapping.

So how is it different?

* If you want to learn to speak, you need to speak. As simple as that. Tapping on the screen will never get you any closer to speaking a language. So the only input in Natulang is your voice. The app will make you pronounce sentences out loud, correcting you when needed. 95% of the time spent in the app you’ll be speaking to your phone.
* No gamification. I want the app to be an effective instrument for learning a language, not an attention magnet that gifts you virtual bonuses to reward your fake progress.
* The app uses the scientifically proven Spaced Repetition method to build up your vocabulary. However, the app will make you repeat each word you learn in the context of different sentences, making it your active vocabulary. The app will also figure out which specific words from a sentence you struggle with and adjust your lessons.
* The app will take you from absolute zero to the ability to watch movies with subtitles in your target language. So far we have achieved this with our Spanish course only, but we are creating the lessons at a good pace and we’ll eventually get there with all of our courses.

A few days ago we added the English course for Polish-speaking users. And it’s completely free for early adopters (will stay free for you if you start learning now).

The English course for now is suitable for beginners, but we make new lessons fast and if you start now we’ll be adding them faster than you are completing the existing ones.

As it’s an English-speaking subreddit the app is probably not very helpful to you yet, but there are also Spanish (our first course – it’s from zero to advanced), French, and German, or maybe the app could be useful for your parents or friends.

BTW, the author of the course is your fellow countrymen from Gdansk u/roberthallmann

The app is iOS only (Android isn’t possible due to inherent technical issues in Android speech recognition)

I would be grateful for any feedback here in the comments.
