  1. This is the definition of authoritarian regime. Hopefully the managers still speak up, fuck the FA and PGMOL.

  2. Didn’t think much would change after the nonsense reaction to our recent game.

Here we are, with the same old, same old…

  3. They are completely out of control now, not really taking any accountability for their teams poor performance! Beside the questionable goal at Newcastle, Arsenal were poor but there’s no way Arteta would admit that!

  4. I wonder if they’ve considered getting tough on shit referees? That seems like a good first step.

  5. What is being done to help these refs get better? FA is not doing anything to fix the root cause of these fucking issues. You’re punishing everything else, while we have to watch awful officiating week in and out. There are no repercussions for refs and there’s no motivation for them to improve.

  6. How dare you criticize the refs even though every week they admit there was a mistake?

  7. I just wish they’d start by actually staying. In. Their. Box. Area.

    So annoying.

Fines don’t mean anything to these rich clubs so I can’t see that as much of a deterrent.

  8. Anyone in any job gets criticism if they fuck up on numerous occasions it’s perfectly normal and correct. Why do the PGMOL think it is immune to criticism? God complex much? Embarrassing.

  9. Have they considered the best way to crack down on criticism of referees, is to hire ones that aren’t fucking terrible at their jobs

  10. The FA are responsible for overseeing all aspects of the amateur and professional game. The day after Arteta’s comments I was voluntarily running the line of an under 12s match and I got a barrage of petty abuse from the coaching staff of an under 12s team. I wasn’t doing it for fun, I was doing it just because someone had to or the kids don’t get to play. Grassroots football has a massive problem with getting referees for matches. Referees might need to improve, processes for decision might need to be improved, but the whole pyramid needs to have referees and they need to be treated with a baseline of respect.

  11. Then maybe hold refs and var accountable for negligence

  12. Criticising referees for being crap or making poor decisions is fine. Haranguing them and having a hissy fit during the match is absolutely not.

  13. …then get the calls right.

Step 1 of not being criticized for being shit at your job is to *not be shit at your job.* Get tough all you want, but that’s not going to make the referees better.

  14. Guess we’ll be getting a whole bunch of fines. 😂
