And a further [update](https://twitter.com/BethRigby/status/1727458981508005955?t=9ak2ZUDD_Oh8Rgxhql5lVA&s=19) after speaking to another Gov insider, the messaging seems to be **if Autumn Statement goes well and polls tighten (or NC vote), prepare for a May election, otherwise a November election.**

Ready on Jan 1st, six weeks campaigning, 15th Feb will likely be the election date,
An early election on that date is too late as the damage to Con has already been done.
The snap election should have been about a year ago during the main inflation and power price increases so Con could lose then blame *everything* on Lab’s ‘economic incompetence’.
Con need some sort of game changing event to occur. Or they think they have an issue divisive enough to change minds in the next few months, lets hope they dont.
As of current polling the Tories would lose 75% of their seats. If the polls narrow in Q1 and Labour continue to engage in circular firing squad activity, an April/May GE is very possible.
The game is afoot.
I have always had a gut feeling it would be sometime before the latest possible date.
There are also English local elections in May and the weather is better.
Oh well, if Beth has said it, it must be 100% true and you can bet your mortgage on it 🙄
