Democrats remain vexed by the House as Ukraine funding hits crisis point

  1. If you support Ukraine, stop voting Republican. How many times must they show you who they really work for?

  2. This article has the latest updates about the American government’s support for Ukraine.

One part that stuck out to me was:

    >“People are well aware that if a vote were put up in the House of Representatives today, it would pass with an overwhelming majority of members — that the issue is not the level of support as it is getting to that vote,” said Rep. Jason Crow (D-Colo.). “Because of the political conditions and the change in leadership, getting the vote has been the hard part.”

The point is, most of the politicians in Congress support Ukraine — in both the House and the Senate. The problem is Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House, who is the leader and has a lot of power. He may insist on having Ukraine aid be attached to a bill about the US southern border.

But coming up with border policy is complicated and will probably take a long time because it’s such a controversial issue. So in my opinion, attaching Ukraine aid to border policy is a convenient way for some politicians who do NOT support Ukraine to SAY that they do. Attaching it to border policy is a way to make things more complicated and delay Ukraine aid.

Of course, the border is an important issue, but that doesn’t mean it should be hooked to Ukraine aid!

A major issue about the southern border is about asylum requirements. Many Republicans want to make it harder for people to qualify for asylum, so that’s something they want to attach to Ukraine aid.

    >A chief Republican policy proposal would increase the standard migrants must clear to gain asylum into the United States, an idea strongly opposed by progressives.
    >
    >“We’ve been the beacon of light around this world for many, many generations, when it comes to people who are fleeing violence and fleeing for the sake of their life,” said Rep. Tony Cárdenas (D-Calif.). “For us to actually weaken that process would be shameful on America. It would be a shame to any member of the House or the Senate that would ever put that on this president’s desk, and I don’t see this president signing a bill with that in it.”

I agree with this comment. I’m sad to think that the only way Ukraine aid can pass is to also make asylum requirements more strict, because I’m against that. I wish Ukraine aid would be separated from this whole border debate. 🙄

  3. Republicans are under the impression that if we defund our own government, part ways with all of our current Allie’s, and make friends with Russia, that somehow this works out for us? I’m sorry but what the fucking fuck kind of mystery magical thinking is that?

Russian/Republican trolls incoming talking about Biden’s age. Motherfucker – trump is old af too. And a complete sociopath who’d throw us all under the bus in exchange for a hotel in Moscow.

  4. Please just put it to a vote then. People’s lives are at stake here!

  5. That’s because GenZ didn’t show up to vote and left the house in the control of Putin’s cockholsters.

  6. If Biden launched a special military operation in Ukraine, his hands would not be tied by Congress

  7. If you support Ukraine, vote for any candidate who does and against any candidate who doesn’t. That’s the bare minimum.

Other things you can do include:

    – Hold pro-Ukraine rallies

    – Get out the vote for pro-Ukraine politicians

    – Correct misinformation about the conflict

    Any other ideas?
