There’s weird place names everywhere. Pick a random state in the US on Maps and zoom in, you’ll probably see something dumb like Truckton, Blandtown, Bird City, Zenda, Spivy, Sedan, Edna.
It’s just that our weird names sound incredibly British.
Most place names have meaning to them.
It’s worse than that; I’ll guarantee they’re pronounced nothing like their spelling.
“‘Slaggyford?’ Oh you mean ‘Layyfurr'”
Hey I will not hear a bad word said about Clunton and Slaggyford!!!

there is nothing nonsense about places just off this map, like Middlesbrough.
When similar posts crop up without [this](https://maps.app.goo.gl/CPhD57DMJf25uw377) being mentioned, I feel like people are just enthusiastic amateurs.
