Finally Putin has got some ‘good news’ (To be clear: From his perspective, not mine)…
Today i come with some sad news.
The dutch version of trump has won the elections with a vast majority in the netherlands. His name is Geert Wilders and he is very pro russia. I hope that he will fail in forming a majority goverment since no one wants to lead with him. However if he does succeed in forming a majority goverment you can expect all aid to ukraine coming from the netherlands to stop swiftly and i would not even be suprised if he will start vetoing like orban.
Personally i believe he has received a lot of extra funds from russia and that the russian troll farms on social media in the netherlands have been greatly promoting him. i wish the EU would wake up and do something about the blatent pollitical meddeling in european elections
Bad news for Ukraine. Wilders is more pro-Russian than even Orban and Fico.
Probably no cause for worry, all other parties he would be governing with are pro ukraine, so concessions have to be made if he wants to get some of his own campaign plans put through. And stopping aid for Ukraine wasn’t exactly top of his list either.
Does he not have enough seats to form a government though. Other parties refused to work with him
“Trumpalike” to me means crooked, traitor, pervert. You need all three elements. Trump isn’t far-right either. Close as I can tell he has no particular values.
When you say “won” you mean “lost the least”.
No one has a majority to “win” properly.

It is true but to be fair the war in Ukraine has barely been a topic towards these elections at all. Climate, immigration and housing were the main topics. Also you have to realise that the Dutch political system is one of coalitions. Wilders has 37 seats in parliament but needs over 75 to form a government. That can only happen through a few limited routes because several parties do not want to govern with him.
A possible coalition could be together with NSC (we want to actively support Ukraine economically and militarily – 20 seats) ), VVD (we want to go as far as we can to support Ukraine – 24 seats) and BBB the Farmers’ party (we are fully supporting Ukraine – 7 seats but they have a strong position in the Senate). PVV also strongly condemned the war, unlike FVD for example who have said to support Putin.
To conclude, it is far too early to tell what will happen with regards to support for Ukraine, but as Wilders will need at least 39 seats of other parties – of which most of them are in favour of supporting Ukraine strongly – I would not dare to state right now that the Netherlands is not going to continue supporting Ukraine.
