I’ve recently almost had a colission with a bus driver during one of my lovely trips to our capital, the madou kruispunt at the small ring.
This is a weird crossing with a bus lane, where traffic is only allowed to turn right (blue line), and buses can go right or left.
I was on the blue line, while the bus was to the right of me wanting to turn left.
When the lights hit green we both started tl turn and nearly hit each other. I’m confused as to whu this even could happen as this a VERY conflicting traffic situation and it would surprise me me the lights ever make you go both at once.
You can see the signs on the street view image.
I was really clueless who was in the wrong here should we have had an accident.
There is a special bus traffic light in their line, and i suspect they misread the normal traffic light and thought they could go at green, while their special traffic light should have said halt. But i don’t understand the special triangle light things so i wouldn’t know.

The one coming from the right has the priorité.

Yeah, that’s weird. I found this information about the bus traffic lights in French. https://conseilsconduite.be/feux-tram-bus/ The one information we lack is which light was indicated to be bus when yours turned green. Otherwise, maybe “priorité de droite” (priority to the right) was applicable ?
I’ve always been told that Bus and tram have the right of way on you in these kinds of situations.
Als de pinker van de bus aansta helft de bus voorrang.

According to google you both get the green phase (bottom white light is go for buses and trams). I would honestly think the bus has to give way but this is indeed a very very odd junction. Maybe in case of an accident its the bus driver fault since he has to change lanes by crossing over the car lane that only has 1 way to follow?
Quite stumped by this ngl
Unless indicated otherwise, traffic from your right has priority. As you both have a green light and you are crossing eachother and there is no other sign indicating who has priority, it’s the bus that has priority as he is on your right side when crossing.
(Surprisingly) ur supposed to go on the bus lane before the crossing. Just studied my theory and that specifically came up
The light works by giving the bus ‘green’ (so the triangle) a couple of seconds before the cars get green, so the bus can safely turn left before cars drive on the intersection. The problem point is when both are getting green at the same time.
Imo traffic lights should be changed so they can’t get green at the same time.
You can try and report the problem on fixmystreet.brussels[fixmystreet.brussels](http://fixmystreet.brussels), I know for a fact the city planners see those reports, so if they deem it necessary it might actually get changed.

Gedeelte aansprakelijkheid van beiden. Both at fault. Dob’t know if it will 50/50 or diff %
The way I was taught, public transport has priority plus there is priority to the right, meaning that the bus was double right to go first 🤷♀️
Peak Belgian Traffic situation
THE BUS ALWAYS.
Go real fast and be first 😮
I’d say be safe an give way to vehicles many times your vehicles size and weight when you are unsure,
A Bus is going to win the confrontation between a car and it any day.
I’d give way to the bus. that said, the design of this intersection is more than questionable
The bus is on the right-hand lane, so it has priority. You were in the wrong in this case.
PS, a triangle means that public transport, taxis and cyclists can go in any direction.
