What are they investigating? Seems like a waste of time and money.
He’s already admitted lying repeatedly, including to parliament.
This “protect my family” nonsense is actually grubbier than the lies in the first place.
If the SNP wants to close ranks and defend that behaviour, the outcome of an investigation won’t change it surely?
>The investigation will consider whether the £11,000 claims “were proper and met the requirements of the scheme and whether resources were used for parliamentary purposes in accordance with all SPCB policies”.
The expenses are only really an issue in the case he did no, or very little, parliamentary work on those days. In that case it becomes a criminal matter.
But assuming that he did some work and can fudge not knowing about the football.
The main issue is that he lied. Then the First Minister, upon finding out about the lie, allowed it to continue.
They only admitted the lie after an FOI revealed the football link.
Pair of liars the both of them. More honourable men would, and have, resigned over less.
I am not clear that this investigation can even look at the lying.
You would think that there’s absolutely nothing else going on in Scotland and that the entire nation was paralysed over this iPad nonsense.
Good. Investigate it, and punish him appropriately. If that results in a sacking – so be it.
Anyone else trying to commit fraud would be sacked and given a court day . NOT THE SNP
Whatever the excuses for the data use, the fact is that he lied on his expenses. Just because there are other things the government need to do doesn’t mean shit like this should be ignored. Just because there are more significant instances of fraud in Westminster that get swept under the carpet doesn’t mean the Scottish parliament shouldn’t hold itself to a higher standard. Just because other parties are using this to score points doesn’t make it meaningless.
Offering to pay it after he’s caught shouldn’t make it go away, that’s effectively telling every MSP they can attempt to cheat the expenses forms and the only punishment is paying the bill if they’re caught.
He should have resigned ages ago, the fact he didn’t is why it’s dragging on. Humza sticking by him was fucking idiotic as well.
You didn’t secure your work equipment.
You didn’t monitor what was occurring
You gave not a thought to the possibility it might be expensive
You tried to get it passed anyway
You didn’t offer to pay for your own ‘mistake’
You said it was for constituency work
You directly lied several times when questioned
Then you blamed your kids.
Congratulations, you just graduated Politician Academy. Only the best people.
The cost of this investigation will dwarf the £11k. Chasing thousands while billions go out the back door. Just fire the cunt.
The SNP is never beating the corruption allegations.
The man admitted to lying a number of times, there is quite literally no reason not to force him to resign or fire him, either for the lies or for just being incompetent.
So we will spend more taxpayer funds to ‘investigate’ and conclude on what?
The man has openly lied and misled parliament – such an act should see him stripped of his brief and lose the whip.
When the FM openly defends (and therefore supports) this, the conclusion is known, tax payer funds are wasted and continued confidence in the SNP to be the party of reason will start to falter.
No investigation needed, cut him loose before his stink helps sink the party further.
11k data roaming? This guy only downloaded a hell of a lot of 8k porn.
