Just fuck off, or call a snap election. Oh wait the latter is only an urgent must-have when a Tory PM quits, I remember now. Silly me!
All of this is perfectly normal within governments no matter their stripe, location or size.
But.
What used to keep this behavior somewhat in check was the sadly forgotten practice of resignation. When rumbled and the lies became too thick, too convoluted, and the public outcry too intense, the politician would do the decent, honorable thing and walk. Unfortunately that’s rarely the case these days. Dignity of office, as a concept and practice, has evaporated.
We used to point at the banana republics of South/Latin America and laugh – “That could never happen here”. We can’t point & laugh anymore.
What happens as a result of this?
Worth noting that beyond the apparent motive of Yousaf wanting to avoid saying ‘I used an incorrect stat – my apologies’, there is a definite motivation in the email chains of admitting to a statisitic that reveals the reliance of the Scottish renewable sector from UK-wide cross subsidy (presumably for pro-independence reasons).

Given that this is directly from the request to get the emails unredacted, fucking 🔥🔥🔥

Previously redacted emails around Yousaf’s ‘majority of per capita renewables’ comment have been released.
