Hello everyone, I have started a for De Zonnegloed.
De Zonnegloed is an animal rescue center and a sanctuary for wild animals in Oost-Vleteren. The park provides lifelong shelter to animals that have been abandoned, dumped, abused, or neglected. The park does not receive any grants from the government for its operations and relies on donations, adoptions, volunteers, and visitors to keep the park running. The park currently offers a safe home to more than 400 animals.
Due to heavy rainfall and the flooding of the IJzer river, the park is facing significant water damage. Part of the park is underwater, and some animal enclosures are flooded. The staff have already evacuated several animals to dryer places, such as the visitor reception, the cafeteria, and the picnic area. Sadly, a bird of prey did not survive the flood. The park is also closed to visitors, resulting in a loss of crucial income.
De Zonnegloed urgently needs help to repair the damage and care for the animals.
