I am worried that the increasing amounts of fortifications will make it challenging for Ukraine to take back territory. With the offensive now culminated, Russia will have more time to build even more fortifications. The West **MUST** give more support sooner rather than later to allow Ukraine to turn the tide. Our half-measures only makes the task much harder for Ukrainians.
The majority of these fortifications are your basic trenches…what the Ukrainian need now more than ever is tanks and armor to break through.
They dug into the land. It will be very hard to take em out, because they have 3:1 advantage. Also they have tons of artillery shells and landmines. Not sure if Ukraine will be able to make any advancements in the near future. Dare I say the borders will stay like this for decades to come.
Piling up dead orcs does not count
What is needed is air superiority, so that sappers can remove mine fields without being hit by artillery and air strikes. Then, the heavies can start rolling through the other defenses. Western jets cannot arrive too soon.
This happened because Biden and Scholtz dragged their feet providing weapons.
Just let Russia stay in the areas that are too heavily fortified and prioritize targets of value at a reasonable distance. A war machine needs food, fuel, and medicine. That, and target the economies/energy sector of any nearby pro-russian city. It’s not going to win a popularity contest, but we’re well past that now. It’s where most wars end up anyway, war as a spreadsheet. A cold calculation and attempt to destabilize the other side. Russia’s strength is in superior numbers, make that their weakness.
Maginot Line.
Kill their logistics, starve the beast!
