I’m an international (outside of EU) student in Germany and I’ve been thinking about getting my car here. But I keep finding contradicting information. So many people say I have to get it registered here, which makes perfect sense and I’m willing to deal with that albeit, maybe on a later date. But on Germany’s official “Welcome” website it states I can just bring my car without any tax or registration here as long as I can prove I have an active enrolment. You can find the page here and it has been updated recently, on 9th October 2023, so it is not old information either: [https://www.welcome-center-germany.com/post/bringing-car-germany](https://www.welcome-center-germany.com/post/bringing-car-germany)

Can anyone clarify this for me? If I can just bring it without any registration/tax that is a no-brainer for me and I’d just take it here. Thanks in advance.

  1. If the car is longer than six months in Germany it needs to be registered here.

I think you might mix it up with import taxes.
