Culture war rage bait by the Torygraph. Headline says he’s gay but suggests he lied, first paragraph says he’s bisexual. Later on they say he won asylum because he was being persecuted for his sexuality (not for being gay).
There is a thriving Nigerian UK passport Market on telegram. They can buy genuine passports with full UK citizenship with benefit claims already in place.
Once purchased, they just fly in and walk through customs with their new passports.
This market recently opened up in Albania, hence the huge drop in Albanian Asylum seekers. Albania is slightly different as their sellers use tiktok and Facebook. But the service is the same, full UK citizenship for £500.
The government don’t care, if they did they’d stop it. At the very least, they’d fire the insiders who are issuing the passports.
It’s an imperfect system, but if it protects the lives of those vulnerable people who would otherwise be killed or tortured then I don’t care if a few people are not genuine, it’s a price worth paying. Using isolated cases to make broader anti immigration arguments is disingenuous journalism. Immigration probably is too high generally speaking, but it’s not because too many are using the human rights act to stay here.
They’re all genuine cases though guys – don’t listen to the racist dog whistle stuff. All of them. The 6 foot bearded children are all vulnerable and they just lost their passport but not their iPhones.
We are a soft touch. Approval ratings in the high 70s percent compared to most EU countries at around 25%. When we do refuse we let them stay anyway.
Best of all – Labour will be worse at dealing with this which ought to be difficult considering the shambles of the Tory policy.

I truly believe that people who want to claim asylum based on their sexuality should be subjected to fairly invasive methods of finding out the truth behind their claim.
