  1. While it’s being run by a pack of jihadis, slavering and gloating over the bodies of young women they have raped and killed, this will never happen.

The Palestinian Authority is not actually better, just different from Hamas in its tactics. Mahmoud Abbas did his PHD in Holocaust denial, with a side of “but even if it *did* happen, it would have been a good thing”.

Between them, they have wrecked the prospect of a Palestinian state perhaps forever. And I doubt either of them have heard of Humza Yousaf, let alone care for his support.

  2. I’m all for recognising the people and their right to statehood, a two state solution has to be the ultimate goal. But recognising the current political setup as a state is a terrible idea when one half is run by Hamas. We may as well recognise the Islamic State while we’re at it if we do that.

  3. The situation with his wife means he is biased against Israel in this situation and it isn’t even anything to do with his job, so he should stay out of it I think.

  4. The comments in here are just so ignorant. Recognising statehood, does not mean recognising the government of Gaza, i.e. Hamas. The UK does not recognise the Talbin as a legitimate government in Afghanistan, but obviously recognises that there is a country called Afghanistan. They same should apply to Palestine, recognise the state, but don’t recognise Hamas as the government. Either recognise Fatah as the government, or don’t recognise either if that’s the preferred political position.

If you are saying that Palestine shouldn’t be a recognised state because Hamas govern a portion of it, then you are singling the palestinians out, and applying a completely different set of international rules to them than we have for every other country in the world.

  5. Not until there’s a proposal which sees them have a civilian government with the UN and Arab nations assisting them in establishing a new nation which isn’t run by terrorists.

The PA and Hamas are both entirely unsuitable and the Arab world sees Palestinians as just tools to hurt the Jews and Israel with.

A 2 state solution is the answer, once it’s agreed by Israel that it’s going to happen (and this is where the pressure is needed) it might be the case that the appetite for terrorist government subsides and things grow up a bit.

  6. First they should abolish this -https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palestinian_Authority_Martyrs_Fund

  7. We all know this war will end with a political solution. And probably negotiations will have to be done with Hamas.

This is the Taliban all over again.

You can’t beat a group with that much support on the ground
