Tuberville is setting up the military to be 100% Trump appointees, and everyone wants to pretend that one of the most obviously dangerous things that’s going on in the government right now is actually about something else.

Rear Admiral Yvette Davids has been nominated to become the first female superintendent in the history U.S. Naval Academy but her promotion, along with hundreds of other senior military appointments, has been blocked by Sen Tubervillle, who is using his leverage to block confirmation in protest of a Biden administration policy protecting abortion access for military personnel and their dependents.
So setting aside the argument that every American woman should have the right to bodily autonomy and the ability to make medical decisions in consultation with their licensed healthcare providers, Tuberville and his group of misogynistic magic-believers are willing to impact military readiness (a core tenet of the Republican Party) not only through forced birth (since pregnant service members cannot be deployed) but also through the erosion of overall morale in the military by blocking the path for promotion and advancement. And he gets to obstruct Biden’s role as president and commander in chief, which is probably the primary impetus
Schumer says he can’t bring the close to 300 positions to the floor for independent votes. Why not? Pick a Tuesday and hammer through them.

Make no mistake: ALL of the Republicans are doing this – not just Tuberville. This is the way Republicans get something done that they know is unpopular. They get one guy in a safe seat to do their dirty work. But if the GOP wanted him gone, they could stop funding him. Simple.
Tuberville has a long history of voting the way the Kremlin wants him to. And Putin wants the US military disrupted. “Tommy Traitor” has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?
