  1. Telling people to “pipe down” isn’t an effective way to persuade them.

  2. I get it. Trump is an existential threat and if the choice is between him and Biden, it won’t even be a thought. But there are people out there who don’t see the choice like I do, and telling them to just pipe down, hold their nose and vote for someone they don’t genuinely believe in isn’t an effective strategy.

  3. Vote down Biden, you get Trump and you lose everything. How is this a difficult concept for people to understand.

  4. What’s the purpose of democracy again? No matter who is in power, we get told to shut up and accept whatever conditions are imposed on us. Asking for the government to represent our actual interests is impermissible.

Quoting Joe Crowley is especially hilarious. The protege of Pelosi who got his ass kicked by a (at the time) no-name bartender is definitely the guy the democrats should be taking campaign strategy advice from.

  5. Are these really the two best people the U.S. has available to lead the country?

  6. I strongly agree with the person who said that this election will be a test of American sanity! Trust me … the world is watching and waiting ! I hope we won’t be the laughing stock of nations!

  7. I will vote for him on Election Day. He has helped enormously, and like every president before him, he’s not perfect, but he has been great so far, compared to what republicans want.

  8. We are allowed to vote how we want, don’t like it put up a better candidate.

  9. 80% of democrats are demanding Biden handle Israel differently. He is refusing and complicit in atrocities. For a whole lot of people, that is too much fascism and violence to cast a vote for. The left owes no allegiance to liberals, and it will be liberal failures that see a loss to trump by refusing to answer to the demands of the people this man is SUPPOSED to be working for.

  10. “Vote for Biden and then push him left when he’s in office.

    {tries to push him left while in office}

“Pipe down because we have to worry about reelection”

  11. This comment typifies everything wrong with the Democratic center wing. They all think they are the “adults in the room” and that the left wing are just dumb children that need to be told to go to time out.

At no point did this buffoon sit down and think “why would a large portion of the party start openly rebelling against Biden when Trump is still a threat”. Instead he just assumes they are idiots who don’t realize whats at stake. The left wing of the party absolutely rallied around Biden unconditionally in the last election. So ask yourself what changed?

Also, hilariously, the democrat quoted is the guy who lost to AOC. I don’t believe in a god, but this seems like a cosmic parable.

  12. Pipe down. Shut up. It’s a shit sandwich and you’re gonna eat it. Great messaging from the Democrats.

  13. Send mediocrity out there. You get lukewarm and mediocre reception.

    Dems are in trouble. P

  14. I’m old enough to remember when genocide Joe ran as a one term bridge president. Now they realized they cant cast off copmala and we’re stuck with either this senile loser or mask off fascism. Great job libs

  15. For all those saying that Biden is complicit in genocide(even though *all* the evidence shows that he’s been working behind the scenes to try and stop the killing of civilians) just remember that the GOP have said multiple times they want Israel to turn Gaza into a parking lot. So if you’re choosing not to vote for Biden because he hasn’t checked all the boxes on your little wishlist you’re actively helping the party that blatantly supports genocide against the Palestinian people(and wants to take away the rights of anyone not a straight, white, Christian). Can you say hypocrite?

  16. This is a diversion. I don’t like how Biden is handling some things, but I will absolutely vote for him over Trump. The point of articles like this is to dissuade the casual voter from going to the poll. Making their candidate seem apathetic to their concerns, so why take the effort to vote.

The reason to vote for Biden is that if you don’t, you are voting for the end of the US as a Democracy. We have to remember that Trump almost did destroy the country and the next time around, he is going to make sure the previous fail-safes are removed.

  17. You are not voting for an individual when you elect a president but an army of people who work for them. Lots of good has happened because of those who work with Biden.

  18. I’m voting Biden.

    I don’t want to.

    But I’m gonna.

It’s simple. And if you’re ok with Trump winning because of your moral purity then so be it. Then there’s nothing anyone can say to persuade you to vote for Biden. Even if we begged you.

    We all know what’s stake.

It’s just kind of ironic. Those who were on the fence and because of Palestine won’t vote or won’t vote Biden are oddly giving up on Palestine and Muslim rights.

    Seems odd but it’s true.

In addition they are giving up on:

    LGBT

    Women’s rights

    minorities

    democracy

    Themselves.

Why even try to persuade them?

  19. The call to pipe down and fall in line IS authoritarian. Valid criticism is NOT a vote for Trump. We are a year out form the election. Telling your future voters to shut up isn’t a way to win their future support.

  20. This is the kind of entitled attitude I fucking hate from the Dems. I’ll vote Dem bc I’d like to have a functioning democracy but if there’s ever a day where a progressive third party candidate’s viable, I’ll be the first to tell the DNC to kiss my ass.

  21. I’ve been posting the following thread all week. From Simon Rosenberg in Salon:

In my opinion, part of what’s happening with polling is that because of low response rates, where people just aren’t responding to polls in the way they used to, the quality of polling has deteriorated. It’s harder for polling to capture the current moment in the way that it used to. Our country’s more diverse; it’s a very big and complicated country. The polling industrial complex oversells the predictive capacity of polling.

    https://www.salon.com/2023/11/21/pollster-sees-hope-for-biden-republicans-are-in-far-greater-trouble-than-is-generally-understood/

  22. Absolutely! Now more than ever we need politicians/leaders, like President Biden, who can ignore the social media hysteria, misinfo & disinfo.

President Biden understands that the REAL problems are complex and require level-headedness, not social media hysterics & clout-chasing.

Thank you President Biden! Your level-headedness is what this country desperately needs right now. Truly deserving of four more years! 😎👍🇺🇸

  23. It is very easy to rally around Biden & Harris. Their hearts and minds are in the right place. Both have graduated from law school; have dedicated their adult lives to public service and I respect them. It’s true that the Heritage Foundation plots to oppress all but the very wealthy in the world and that they have deceived themselves into believing they are so wise and moral that they are best suited to force their will on all the rest of us. We see them for what they are and there is no respect for them to be had.

  24. The Democratic Party is so fucking tone deaf. In response to an authoritarian threat, you don’t respond to its opponents “You shut up too.” You say, “It’s a clear choice. We are not them, and we want to listen to you, the people.”

  25. I’m hopeful that once Trump is declared GOP front runner and we start seeing Biden vs Trump that the dems will quickly unite

  26. Ah, the GOP thinks it has found a wedge issue. Welcome, bots.

  27. Putting “pipe down” out of context into the headline is a terrible way to “summarize” what Biden allies are saying – it was what 1 guy said, but this makes it appear as if many Biden allies are telling Dems to shut up.

  28. Everyone is going off about 2024 being so important because of the Project 2025, but Republicans aren’t going to abandon it if trump loses, I can see them planning and continuing in 2028.

Eventually every election becomes “the most important election ever”, and why everyone has to rally around a milquetoast establishment democrat to not let the fascists in the white house, but this is long term a failing strategy.

  29. Look, I’m gonna vote blue because I think our democracy depends on it. But I hate this entitled attitude that we shouldn’t be able to criticize our party and express what we want to see in our representation. This is one of the things that contributed to a lack of turnout in 2016 — the “shut the fuck up and vote for me” energy.

If you want the party to rally behind a leader, improve your outreach and figure out what your constituents need in an elected official. Then they will rally.

  30. The other option is 4 more years of Trump. How are people not going to vote? I just don’t get it.

  31. Biden has been highly effective.

    He is annoyingly old.

I will gladly vote for him again.

  32. So apparently voting in the primaries for the dem candidate is no longer going to happen? The choice was already made by the dnc.

  33. Student loan forgiveness

Standing on the picket line with striking workers

Could he do more, sure, but when Republicans vote against every bill brought forward by Dems it’s kind of tough. Also most legislation is brought forward by the senate or Congress. And that’s controlled by the other party so not much gets passed. Let’s give him a Dem controlled house and see what gets passed.

  34. Considering the job he took on I think he’s doing well. The guy before him had an easy plate and managed to drop it. Biden has to deal with a much more unstable world, economic issues from COVID, a country whose minds have scrambled by online propaganda, and the MAGAs attacking his drug addict son. I’m not sure why he’d want the job anymore but when he stops trump again and the jailers come calling for Agent Orange I think the world will share a collective sigh of relief.

  35. Biden has done a fantastic job. What more can people reasonably expect from the guy? All of his policies have either been provided a massive good, or a continuity of policy from pre-Trump America.

The policy outcomes, even if somebody more to the left (Bernie) was president, likely would have been the same at best, given the constrains imposed by reality of white Christian nationalists constituting half of Congress and the majority of the Supreme Court.

  36. A lot of the division is being driven and encouraged by conservatives, because its the only strategy they have. I’d argue the conservative media machine is better.

  37. I’ve been incredibly impressed with Biden although I’d like to have seen more aid to Ukraine or a direct intervention. No down sides to voting for him again.

  38. There is no other option this go-round. It’s Biden or bust. And bust means a possible dismantling of our democracy. In 2028, we’ll have another opportunity to shift the Overton window further left. For now, using your vote to threaten the Oval Office is the lazy way to try and enact the change you want to see. If you want change now, get out and make yourself part of the movement/cause at the top of your list. It’s the only thing that will make a difference. Waving your vote around is ineffective and makes you look like you’ve lost the ability to be rational.

  39. I get the age concerns, but I really am 100% a fan of the Biden admin. He gets my vote for that reason.

  40. Sorry, I’ll be too busy working an extra job to pay my student loans to vote next year.
