Sad to see a people dying out. At least they have hundreds of millions of descendants in the Americas
[The Spanish National Institute of Statistics](https://www.ine.es/en/prensa/pp_2022_2072_en.pdf) estimate that almost 37% of the Spanish population in 2072, will be foreign-born, compared to today, where 16% of the population are foreign born. Note that this is not the amount of foreigners, but only foreign-borns. So it is safe to assume that ethnic Spanish people will be a minority in their own country by then. This is based on the gov’t projection that Spain accepts slightly below 1m immigrants annually from 2023 to 2031, and then 500K immigrants every year from that.
Why do southern european countries seem to have way bigger problem when it comes to aging population comparing to the rest of european countries? They all have both some of the highest median ages in the world and the lowest birth rates as well. Is there seriously any specific reason why specifically southern europe is doing worse when it comes to demographics ?
Spain is going to be uninhabitable anyway, with the heat and droughts. Might as well prep for the future by downsizing the population. /s

They say you can buy a decent property dirt cheap (some renovations required) in one of the Spanish depopulated localities.
Shocking that people that can’t afford to rent an apartment unless you share with people at 30 years old are not having kids. Shocked I tell you.
There was a tweet by [a famous Spanish journalist](https://twitter.com/pvallin/status/1727285282888905009) this week that went something like “actually, Spain should have fewer people, we should decrease the economy and we should bring in more immigrants” (no, it wasn’t sarcasm)
There are too many Doomers in the West. People who hate white/European people and want to see society collapse “for their sins”

Can someone explain why that is this way? For me as an outsider from the saddest country in Europe, Spain looks like a very cool country, but I guess there are a lot of hidden problems there.
Also, for me it looks like Spain has some insane tax rates, which I think kills business and makes them move out, but does it help regular citizens?

This issue is caused by the fact that young people are under represented in politics. It make it feels like their vote don’t matter, which is kind of true since whatever they want will be overwritten by the older generations. I have a radical solution for this: just make it so pensioners can’t vote. It might not solve the problem, but at least give young people more power, thus forcing politicans to consider to appeal to them.
Pension system collapse in 25-30 years is what I see here. Let’s consider the workforce is 25—65 and pensioners are 65+. With 10% unemployment rate there will be roughly 1 worker per 1 pensioner (how it is 2.5:1).
What do you think about 2.5 times increased social tax? Will employers pay 75% on top of employee’ salary? Or will 40–50 generation agree to 2.5 times pension decrease because they decided not to have children?
I know a lot of people would focus on the 40 to 60 monstrous bulge, but I find the rapid decrease in 10 to 0 to be beyond catastrophic.
