This is a national instrument. It exists only in Ukraine, and it alone can replace an entire orchestra. A hundred years ago, blind men over the age of forty played them. Each of them had a boy from ten to adulthood. The boy’s name was the “guide,” and he led the blind musician from town to town. With the bandura, he carried the news and history of Ukraine in songs. It was a walking Wikipedia!

I’m a big metallica fan… As one can maybe see.. and thinking about what these guys go through + this song… which always had a special meaning to me.. and how well this man plays this beautiful instrument that i have never heard before just brought tears to my eyes! Absolutely wonderful! .. like a candle illuminating the horrific darkness hanging over ukraine. I wish nothing but the best to these men and that they may be able to return to their families when this shitshow is over.
