Government must show more urgency, says Ovo boss

  1. This government has no sense of urgency about anything.

I get the impression that they come out, spew a few soundbites, go back in and forget about whatever it was they were asked about and go back to milking the system as best they can for themselves and their mates.

Actually running the country and addressing issues is, at best, a secondary afterthought.

  2. Energy companies have a perverse incentive to sell as much as they can. Energy efficiency measures will reduce the burden on people. Insulate.

  3. OVO should show more urgency and get their finger out when it comes to electricity bill payments. Before they took over SSE I paid with a quick automated phone call. Now I have to either send a cheque, (yes really), or pay at a post office with a giro cheque.

  4. If fossil fuels are becoming too expensive to be useful, that’s our signal to double down on non-fossil fuel based generation. There’s no point in spending millions propping up old technologies as that leads to high financial costs and high environmental costs.
