Boris Johnson ‘would lose his seat to Labour’ if general election held today

  1. Today from the Daily Mail of all places….

    >After recent events, Boris is about as fireproof as a pyromaniac showering in a Texas oil-gusher.

    Daggers are out.

  2. The next Tory leader is not going to be the complete opposite of Johnson. They will be cut from the same cloth and will have learned from his mistakes (you would think at least). The likes of Sunak, Patel, Truss and Gove are hardly improvements on Johnson.

  3. Keep this energy when the voting booths are open. So tired of hearing this just for a blue wave to emerge when people think the Tories will protect their self-interests.

  4. I can’t help thinking that woman who gave up as leader over Brexit would have done a better job.

I’m sure she’s sitting in front of her fire with her sherry and Xmas cake, smiling a little smile and feeling glad it’s not her job now.

  6. Boris must have pissed off someone who has media influence. After all these years of his blunders and stupid/harmful actions, we barely hear anything from the news. Now the media are crucifying him. Something seems fishy

  7. The sad thing is the Tory party isn’t a twat snake, it’s a twat hydra. Cut off the current twat and more twat will just take its place.

  8. The problem recently with losing Tory party prime ministers is their replacements have been worse than their predecessor. Cameron was bad, May was worse, Johnson is worse still. I’m not sure I want the worse than Johnson prime minister.

  9. No – I’m not sure that’s true. These are just polls asking now what they *would* vote I. A theoretical election. Many are angry and so claim that they would vote Labour as a unofficial protest, however when push comes to shove on Election Day, they’ll vote Tory (especially as they switch out Boris at the last moment).

It’s like when people talk about many things – there’s a big difference between threatening it and actually doing it.

  10. I’m fairly sure Boris is fed up of political life by now. If he got ousted as PM there’s a good chance he’d stand down in 2024 and go back to writing for the Spectator plus some well-paid posts on the boards of various companies owned by Tory donors that are likely waiting for him.

  11. Absolute BS.

If a general election were announced polls would immediately shift like they did when May was tricked into calling one in 2017.

Boris isn’t going anywhere and thank goodness for that.

  12. You can’t win an election if your only strategy is “look how bad that other guy is”. You need to have your own policies.

Does Starmer have a general plan as to what he’ll do if he gets into power? As in, does he have a published plan of action? Would love to see what he’s planning to do.

  13. We all have to help target the most precarious Tory seats for whoever can win them. Throw out Johnson, Raab, JRM. It might involve people actually doing something though.

  14. But there isn’t. So he won’t.
I think Boris will be gone soon anyway.

The Tory’s will need rid before the next general election.

  15. Boris will say he has been successful in getting us through brexit and covid but that it left him exhausted then he’ll retire I reckon. He’s thrown away a generational opportunity
