12. I personally have this urge as well, but have learned that it usually is not as interesting for a Belgian to point it out to other Belgians, as discovering it yourself at random.

    For me what makes me like it is the feeling that the majority of the world doesn’t know anything about Belgian other than beer, chocolate and the EU institutions in Brussels (and I guess in recent years the atrocities in Congo). Whenever Belgium gets brought up in a different context, I feel a weird combination of surprise and pride thinking “oh, people do know other stuff about us than just those”.

23. This is something typical Belgian. Just see reporters in festivals baiting the stars for some Belgian praise. As small and insignifact as we are, we like the confirmation that somehow we have some nice things. We won’t boast about it, we just bait foreigners to say the words.
