Basically not enough cash was on the table.
You just know she’ll eagerly accept that Saudi bullion if they wanted her to perform. All morals and “gravitas” will be out the window if Swifty gets the chance to stick her snout in the Saudi trough.
Just look at all the footballers who went from kneeling and wearing Gay Pride arm bands one moment, to flocking to play in the most racist and homophobic country in the world.
Would be weird for an American to want to play for some old monarch from another country
Charles isn’t that big of a deal, he’s just an old man who inherited a title. Why wouldn’t Swift just play her own gigs/ones she’s interested in?
I will pay her whatever she wants if she’d fuck off for a while. Literally the most annoying person in show business. Doesn’t she need to breakup with her boyfriend so she can write another generic song about him?
Sickening, she should be banned from entering the country ever again. This is affront to not just the monarchy but every hard working British person who loves their king more then anything.
She was *on tour at the time*. It’s the first sentence of the article. The headline claim is the assessment of the book’s author, who more or less pulled the whole thing out of his ass. Get a grip, people.
I mean, the article also lists Adele, Elton John and Harry Styles as artists who turned down the chance to perform.
And it wasn’t even the Coronation itself, it was the Coronation Concert.
Most of the artists who did perform weren’t exactly current A-Listers or Legends.
Dude’s too old and too married to boost her next album sales.
Probably more to do with royal concerts being awful cheese cringe.
She was on your. The gravitas quote is from some guy who is trying to find deeper meaning in her turning it down, I suppose his point is that a monarch with sufficient gravitas would trump her tour?

But really, who cares? How is this even news?
She’s a performer, who performs her music. If you don’t like it, fine. If you do, fine. If she wants to do a concert, she can. If she doesn’t want to, she doesn’t have to. If it was the money that turned her off from it? Fine. If it was that performing at a public concert for an old man alongside tired, aging singers wasn’t her scene? Fine. Who cares?
Taylor Swift certainly doesn’t have enough gravitas. That’s why her music is not very good.
She didn’t want to perform for a ridiculous old man in a stupid costume whose brother is a nonce – I wonder why…
Maybe Taylor Swift was worried Camilla would suck the life force out of her.
