  1. When the shears end up stabbing someone the victim’s body doesn’t go “Well it was a 10 year old so I’ll just decide to not bleed out”

  2. Inb4 all the use of force experts with Kevlar skin saying that the cop should have used nice words and his bigger stature to disarm the harmless little girl with an offensive weapon who totally wasn’t off her head in the midst of a psychotic episode.

    A true Reddit moment.

  3. Met Police officer cleared after Tasering girl, who was brandishing a lethal weapon.

There, fixed. Rage bait headline by the BBC as per usual

  4. Can someone enlighten me? The report says that the 10 year old girl had eaten an edible, was this accepted practise in that house or was the parent surprised? I ask because edibles can be extremely strong so giving one to a ten year is a recipe for disaster, never mind child abuse.

  5. I wonder if the IOPC will now apologise to the officer for dragging him through all of this? Somehow I doubt it.

  6. Hug a hoodie (brandishing a sharp garden implement).

  7. Can police refuse to carry Tasers like they can hand in their firearms cards?

With shit like this going on you wonder why they carry on.

  8. The BBC knows most people only read the headline. Their “journalism” is sickeningly unprofessional.

  9. The correct choice – anyone brandishing a weapon , regardless of age, sex, height, ethnicity etc – should expect police to take action. In this case Taser was the best.

How this ever got to a misconduct panel I don’t understand?

  10. The other options being battered to the ground with an ASP or shot centre of mass is a Glock if the officer is an AFO. I’ll take the taser, please officer.

  11. Well I’m glad they were not found guilty and common sense prevailed. But how on Earth do these investigations take so long? I’m assuming the cop had a body cam rolling; check the footage and move on with your lives, is it that difficult?

  12. If immediately tapering a 10 year old child within 8 seconds of entering is the only way a grown man can take a pair of garden shears off her then he shouldn’t be a fucking police officer, Jesus Christ

  13. Headline seems kind of sensationalist, but sounds like the little fucker deserved it.

Hit her mother with a hammer and threatening her with shears for taking her phone away. Yikes. Imagine what she’ll be like as an adult.

  14. Surely a quick little kick to knock them over then grab them would of been quicker and less harmful of they were not listening and intending to harm?

  15. Remember just because they’ve been cleared doesn’t mean they’re innocent, isn’t that what the coppers say when a gang member is found not guilty?

  16. Police officer used a taser on a girl who attacked her mother with a hammer for taking her mobile phone away.

Then threatened an officer with a pair of garden shears when he arrived to help.

Tribunal found no misconduct yet the police are apologising for traumatising the girl…

    What?!

  17. The child’s parents should be in trouble for neglect. How on earth was a ten year old able to consume an illegal susbstance? Where did it come from?

Sounds like some serious social services involvement is required. This incident shouldn’t have happened in the first place. How was it allowed to even get to that point? Surely that’s criminal and requires possible police involvement and consequences for the parent/guardian?
