Sacked S4C chief calls for investigation into Welsh-language channel

  1. Clearly there is a lot at play here and I’m not saying the board are blameless in the obviously deep culture issues in S4C, but this struck me as a crucial paragraph in this article:

    *”In April this year a letter written by the Bectu union said staff were undermined and disrespected by senior executives and “often left in tears”. It said management was “aggressive and confrontational” when concerns were raised. At the time, union officials said Doyle had acknowledged staff concerns, but had also suggested that the term “bullying” was used too often.”*

    Given the stories we heard later on about Llinos Griffin-Williams sacking during the Rugby World Cup for belittling Mike Phillips’ Welsh skills, it really does come across as “no smoke without fire”, and the senior executives trying to absolve themselves of any blame is pretty audacious.
