so the other day i was in sainsburys and saw this deal, i was shocked at how good the deal was, from £5.90 down to 20p?! it was only at around half 7 too so it was still open for a few more hours. Whats the best deal you’ve had?

  1. Can’t believe they put dates on dry aged vacuum packed meat… could last ages in that pack

  2. Once got an £8 Christmas gateau for 50p but I’d have traded it with you for that steak! That’s an absolutely amazing price! Did it taste better because it was 20p?

  3. I’ve had a few belters in my time but a 20p sirloin trumps every single one – good find OP.

  4. There’s a staff member fuming that somebody put their dinner back in the fridge.

  5. Boxing day morning a couple of years ago I popped over to booths for some milk and they had hand made chocolate cakes in a big fancy box reduced from £30 to £2, had some of it for breakfast.
Also booths had rotisserie chickens one night about 9pm for about 50p, got one and went home.and just munched on chicken until I couldn’t eat anymore. They used to do great reductions, now they knock about 20p off a £5 sausage roll.

  6. That’s a blinder. In our local Tesco they knock 50p off and put it on the smash rack.

  7. Solid bargain. I once got an organic turkey for £14 (down from £90ish) which was insane, and I once went to a Morrison’s which priced ALL reduced items at 9p, but today a 20p steak is madness. Lovely job

  8. Used to do the markdowns at Asda. Bizarre 6 months, nutters scrabbling at a papaya, people who would walk around for an hour with a whole chicken then put it back in the markdown fridge just before 10p time, I also learned a lot about not judging people who were just trying their best.

Anyway. To answer your question it was the £1.50 for 1kg of cheese trick. Two wrapped blocks in another outer packaging – slice it, mark down next day, place in trolley, buy at end of shift – ate well that Christmas I tell thee
