Poor Iceland

  1. Iceland made Lazy Town, the most popular children’s TV show. I mean, not the most impactful thing on Earth, but more impactful that Kahoot.

  2. Kahoot is not on the same level as Lego, Nokia, H&M, and IKEA. It’s a quiz app (with a questionable UX) that acquires companies to pad its balance sheet. 😂

  3. I mean Iceland documents all the old Norse mythology/pagan/Viking stuff that are important to Scandinavian countries lol, the Poetic Edda/prose edda/volsungs etc

  4. The most famous thing originating from Norway is actually Bluetooth.

Edit; Turns out I was wrong. Bluetooth is actually swedish!

  5. Iceland invented the [“check for incest”-mobile app](https://theculturetrip.com/europe/iceland/articles/iceland-is-so-small-theres-an-app-that-keeps-icelanders-from-dating-their-relatives/)!

*”A company called Sad Engineers Studios created the app using the online genealogy database comprised of more than 720,000 Icelanders. In the app, you only have to type in a name to see results or, if you are already on a date, Icelanders can just bump their phones together if they both already have the same app and find out. The engineers have named this feature the “Incest Spoiler” with the slogan: “Bump the app before you bump into bed.””*

  6. Kahoot makes less in a year than Lego makes in two days. Also if you are going for household names there aren’t many Norwegians

  7. One of Unity Technologies co-founders is Icelandic he was the CEO before he retired.

    CCP Games, makes EVE Online.

Össur is an industry leading prosthetic and bionics company with roots in Iceland.

Marel is a multinational livestock machine processing company with roots in the Icelandic fishing industry.

The creation of the original PlayStation was overseen by an Icelandic dude as well. [Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%93lafur_J%C3%B3hann_%C3%93lafsson)
