Disney has released their least politically charged movies in their history in the past 15 years. He is only saying this for a headline that resonates with right-wing media.
If you watch the actual quote, that’s not what he said.
He said films with a positive message are good, but entertainment is the priority.
“Shoving down the throats” is political spin, not Iger’s position.
What messages have Disney films given?
WE DON’T WANT THEMES. WE DON’T WANT CHARACTER ARCS. GIVE ME ACTION AND NOTHING ELSE ITS ALL MY 2 BRAINCELLS CAN ENDURE. /s
No way he said, lmao. How far has Disney fallen if it’s true
“RIGHT YOU ARE HARRY!”
Does he know he works for Disney?
A movie is to tell a story. Good movies have meaning to it. All classic disney movies have meaning. Aladdin have meaning, Little Mermaid have meaning Lion King have meaning. The thing you do not want your movie to be Emoji movie. where it just random shit happen but it bright and colorful. It a forgotten movie with no meaning. That kids under the age of 8 with think it fun and forget about it a week later.
The problem with recent disney movies it not telling a good story.
Out of touch man says out of touch thing.
This culture war is not even in the top 5 of what their movies are right now
Lack substance
Fail to provide a reason for their existence other than money
Too much budget
Too much done in post leading to awful visuals and a chaotic script
A need to stay safe and not step on anyones toes be they right or left wing.
Well this is a first.
Every Disney movie has had messages. From Snow White (be pure of heart) to Beauty and the Beast (don’t just a book by its cover).
Every Pixar movie from Toy Story (don’t be jealous) to Up (pursue your dreams). Most have multiple messages.
The only issue people have with the modern movies is that the message is about race and LGBTQ+.
Wow, and people have only been saying this for 10 years now, glad they finally heard it.
Art without intent isn’t art imo.
Maybe try to mix up the messaging. Show support for LGBTQ but also don’t not to take the “men bad” approach to everything.
