AOC says her life ‘completely transformed’ for the better after Pelosi stepped down from leadership

  1. I wish Pelosi had fought the right half as hard as she fought the left wing of her own party.

  2. “The amount of times she told me that stupid ‘I have protest signs older than you in my basement’ shit,” said Ocasio-Cortez, according to the book. “Like yeah but mine don’t collect dust.”

Wow, what great seasoned leadership from Pelosi.

  3. Pelosi’s running for re-election next year, and really, she shouldn’t. Aside from the fact that this would be setting us up for a Feinstein 2, electric boogaloo, Pelosi is a lot like Hillary Clinton in that the right has spent decades building a whole infrastructure of hate around her to turn out their reactionary voters. Why not deny them that, take her tens of millions of dollars, and retire somewhere beautiful?

  4. This is where a lot of my respect for AOC just vanished.

  5. AOC needs to put “The Squad” in her rear view mirror if she wants to be taken seriously.

  6. I’m with AOC . Pelosi could be an effective leader sometimes . She won some but she lost ALOT. My biggest issue with her is that she’s a Corporate Dem . Could have had a slam dunk on insider trading but as usual she balks when it affect’s her . Her biggest asset was being a great fundraiser . Still better than a GOP speaker tho 🙂

  7. This seems like a personal conflict that comes from an intergenerational misunderstanding and should have been worked out between them instead of aired publicly.

I really like AOC but if I were her I would have saved my ire for people who are actively fascist.

  8. Having actually read the article, it sounds like Pelosi was simply brick-walling the political agendas of people she was ostensibly allies with simply because she didn’t like them and it sounds like Hakeem Jeffries has not been doing that, despite also not being perfectly politically aligned with AOC and other progressive voices. Seems like a totally normal thing to observe. Also, it sounds just based on this like Jeffries will be a more effective speaker for this century, so that’s good.

  9. I don’t actually care about your personal and, in my opinion, petty grievances. Do what needs to be done and stop bitching about water under the bridge.

  10. Nancy Pelosi was a great step forward for our country but has stayed long enough to be the gum preventing the next step forward. Tends to be the natural order of things regarding power.

  11. This is why there is no leadership depth on the left and why we have 80 year old politicians. They would rather “eat their own” than groom talent. A woefully pathetic Right wing has managed to out maneuver the dems and work them into a corner despite having larger public support. And before saying the dems have the senate by 1 seat. They have the Supreme Court by 3, and that 3 is big.

  12. AOC is going to say this isn’t true.

It’s clearly some dude just trying to make money on his book.

  13. I remember when AOC was first elected and had that closed door meeting with Pelosi. Afterwards, Pelosi came out with her plastic smile and AOC looked gobsmacked. I still believe that Pelosi gave her a “this is how this party actually works and if you don’t pump the breaks your district is the one that gets removed by gerrymandering” chat, because shortly after that she softened compared to the rest of The Squad.

I want pre-meeting AOC back now that Pelosi is no longer speaker

  14. Establishment politician loses power and things are better? Imagine that. Now it’s Schumer, McConnell and Grassley’s turn.

  15. LOL AoC attacks democrats more than republicans she just another republican plant

  16. Distraction article to try to divide the left in to fighting with each other instead of fighting the real enemy.

  17. Pelosi is directly to blame for a lot of bad things that didn’t need to happen.

  18. Yeah Pelosi is from the era when Reagan’s presidency shifted the Democrats to the right, starting with President Clinton. Basically, the “corporate democrats” don’t want to be too liberal or they might scare away voters. They will relent on social issues but going for anything close to FDR style politics is terrifying for them !

When AOC unseated the old school, “corporate” Democrat from her district, Pelosi thought she could talk some sense into her because obviously as an old school Democrat for decades, she knows better than the new generation. “I got signs older than you. I challenged the status quo too back in the day !”. AOC knows democrats like Pelosi are basically Republican lite and in order to appeal to the next generation of voters you gotta fight for FDR/ Bernie Sanders style politics. You lost the majority of voters when your platform is barely to the right of Republicans.

Today’s Republicans are so far gone that the difference is much wider and the pressure for Dems to shift left is growing in response. It’s hella refreshing that we now have a POTUS that stands with UAW wokers on strike and he keeps calling for the ultra wealthy to pay their fair share in taxes and it’s because of the movement that’s behind AOC and other progressives Democrats like her

  19. Unsurprising, Pelosi was a small petty spiteful defender of the status quo.

  20. Lol this is what being in the minority does. Once ypu have majority its back to being tough with your own party lol

  21. Why would you put this out there? Pelosi is still around, her fans are still around and not all of them are old. You’re going to need these people whether you like them or not.

  22. Understanding the split between mainstream dems and progressives is as simple as observing how they loath Pelosi (one of the most accomplished Democrats in passing actual legislation) and instead adore performance politics. Give me Pelosi over AOC every👏day👏of👏the👏week👏. And if AOC seriously didn’t learn anything from her and just seethed then I’ve given AOC far too much credit – I thought she had become more disciplined, but instead she’s just petulant nursing a grudge. Pelosi has earned her status, give some credit where do.

  23. Millennials and Zers should thank god for boomers otherwise who else would they have to complain about how miserable their lives are. BTW millennials outnumber boomers so all complaints forward to the millennial’s department. OAC will be running for office in her 70s and all of you millennial and Zers will have grandkids saying how useless and a waste of space you are.

  24. of course it did… you would need to be an idiot at this point to not know that the democrats prevent progressives from rising in power because nobody needs democrats if progressives have most of the power. the democrats often steal progressive policies and pretend they are their own. so the democrats are pretty much middle men deciding what the people deserve from among what they want. pelosi is also one of the most conservative democrats out there even engaging in insider trading. we don’t need democrats at all if progressives were allowed to be elected into power.

  25. lol some of the Pelosi bashing in this thread, look up her track record.

I’m curious if AOC will come out and respond to that book claims.

  26. Never forget, Nancy’s last act was a completely transformative move to end insider trading within congress… No I’m just joking, she fucking blocked that.

So I can completely understand how anyone trying to do any good, is probably far less stressed now.

  27. Makes sense. Pelosi is a very very old guard plutocrat. It makes sense she would be dismissive of someone who is (a) new to the scene and (b) openly critical of Pelosi’s kind of politics.
