Based british public, if only their politicians listened to the people
And of course the americans are still cowards to that religion
The whole of europe should be like France and Denmark
In many countries it’s simply cover your face to be non recognisable, NOT ONLY for religious reasons but ABOVE ALL for security reasons. So it’s not only burqa that is banned, balaclava (for example) is banned as well.
I can understand why the burqa is worn in southern Muslim countries (it’s about the weather and the burqa protects from dust and wind).
But in European and Eurasian countries you can safely wear a hijab, which does not violate Muslim customs and does not attract unnecessary attention (and the burqa attracts a lot of attention).
Im suprised china hasnt banend it.
I personally dont think it should be banned, maybe regulated with concerns to public safety i guesse, dont know how that would be implemented.
The list will keep growing.
USA is still top-dog for religious freedom, I see. Glorious!
Honestly very glad that it is banned in Denmark. Just ridiculous to look at – I remember when it wasn’t banned and I met people in the supermarket wearing this. You just know, that these people cannot be integrated with their mindset and old beliefs. It’s as if you meet someone from 200 years ago.
Should be banned in Europe.
– It violates female rights and strengthens discrimination of females.
– It negatively affects integration.
– Security reasons.
Every kind of clothes that make people unrecognisable should be banned in public places.
This is an issue that is difficult to answer. If you look at it purely from a right of religious freedom then it definitely should not be banned. On the other hand, burqas are based on oppressing women and their rights. Lots of women who choose not to wear a burqa face being ostracised by their family and/or their local community. In an ideal world women would be free to choose to wear or burqa or not and face no consequences for their decision but that is not the real world. Unfortunately many people who oppose the burqa do it from a place of Islamophobia and not because they actually want to respect women’s rights
Thanks to Quebec for single handedly getting us on this map
Eastern europe more tolerant than the western europe letsgooo 💪💪💪/s
That can’t be right, China is terrorising the muslim population, surely there would be a ban on religous and inequality symbols.
As an add on, if banned, would those women leave their house?
The bigger problem is the people who agree with the burqa in the first place. Why would they believe they would fit in Western Society? Burqa mindset does not assimilate.
I’ll copy my previous comment:
I can see the intent behind banning burqas, but with very few exceptions I don’t think it’s a good idea.
I’m never going to support hijab bans though, those are really stupid.
I think they should be banned, they are a sign of women opression. And it shouldn’t be a generic face cover ban but explicit, because opressing women shouldn’t be a thing in Europe.
If Americans were saying this in the comments xD
My big concern is that women in abusive religious families that have previously been able to leave their house in a burqa would now not be allowed to leave at all. Making them even more trapped without any way of interacting with the world
There is no ban of burqa in Turkey though. There was a ban of burqa and headscarf but that’s luckely in the past now.
It absolutely should be, just like massive, uncontrolled immigration
I’m American and I support the burqa ban.
Last year during summer, temperatures rose above 32 degrees where I live. I was not in a good mood due to the heat. I was walking and encountered an ice cream spot and I saw a couple: a woman wearing a burka and her husband having an ice cream. She was under the scorching heat being uncapable of having the same experience as this man. From this point on I am disgusted by the burka. I’d like to see it banned in Europe as it directly promotes control over women.
Hijab is still excusable. Burqa – absolutely not.
When we voted on it in Switzerland, I voted no to the ban.
I see now that I was mistaken. We Europeans have become deeply naive. The burka and other religious face coverings should not be allowed in public
It can be beautiful to accept somebody’s opinion. In this case I’d argue for the great majority of people who are affected by this. If you bring YOUR culture with you when you go somewhere new. Accept the existing culture and adapt somehow. Pushing womanhood into strange and unacceptable circumstances is universal tho. When a society as gained some freedom in one way it shouldn’t be pushed into extreme acceptance because of the idea of everybody’s rights. Some might be ok with this. I‘m actually not.
Worth mentioning that Tajikistan probably has the most Islamophobic laws in the world, despite being 99% Muslim. Like the rest of Central Asia the post-Soviet rulers are both very corrupt and very secular, and since they won a war against Islamists in the 1990s they’ve implemented plenty of laws that would make Macron swoon (like banning kids from mosques).
Viva La France!!! You want to wear it? Then gtfo!
It should be banned. I have no issue with a classic headscarf or something like the hijab, those are fine. But there are a multitude of issues that come with the burqa. There’s even Muslims who believe the burqa is problematic.
I just find it interesting that so many of the countries with these bans are Muslim yet it only makes news when Western countries make these restrictions
Looks like the Israeli bots came back again to spread hate over this thread.
Nothing wrong with that, on the contrary in the middle east if you are part of lgbt or even kiss same gender in public you can get executed/jail. Every country got their laws, if you want to live there abide by it or leave.
It should be banned anywhere where other face coverings or religious symbology is banned, banks etc. I don’t think there should be exceptions made to security rules for religious reasons. I don’t think a full blanket ban in all public places is warranted but in schools, petrol stations, anywhere where there us a potential risk to public safety that requires identities to be on display.
As an Asian queer, I cannot grasp why there are so many Westerners and LGBT+ people who support a religion that will behead you if they have a chance. This religion is a bane to world peace and the progression of the liberal movement, reducing women’s rights to nothing but cattle and promoting homophobia and bigotry, but for some reason, people support Islam.

If women can really wear whatever they want, including [nothing at all](https://media1.popsugar-assets.com/files/thumbor/fm9MkjAD1doo_fc-Hwk1PZ9Rqf8=/fit-in/2442×3746/filters:format_auto():watermark(popsugar-watermark_2x.png,-5,-5,0):extract_cover():upscale()/2018/11/13/461/n/1922398/21c1dbfb5beaa1898ee1b8.52939391_SPL5041153_015.jpg), then no, it shouldn’t be banned. Just another example of Western chauvinism
