The first thing that sprung to my mind is the Monty python’s sketch about organ donors…not sure why…but now I want to see a funny silly take on this
This is a good thing.
Hopefully it sweeps up a bunch of the people who aren’t anti vax but have been too apathetic to book a jab and attend an appointment.
Will also help out those that have been struggling to get to their appointments for whatever reason.
Edit: I’m surprised I’ve managed to accumulate quite a few downvotes from a post saying that this will be good because more people will get jabbed.
Yay more unwanted knocks at my door when I’m trying to sleep
I want as many people to get it but at the same time I wouldn’t want to force it on people, it would only antagonise people further.
Now for those who do want it but mobility is an issue, have them book onto a system and opt in for a home visit.
I work in the NHS and have received a letter from them saying I have not had any vaccine, according to their records; I have had both doses and a booster, all at work. I expect it is just a clerical error but I expect there will be others like me who will have to deal with people like this and will not take kindly to it.
I have a friend who is bedridden by ME/CFS. They spent months on the phone and being passed around as they desperately tried to get vaccinated this last year. Still unvaccinated, not by choice but by the complete lack of care from the NHS for the most vulnerable who seem to have no way to get anything to them, not a doctor or anything. So call me just a tad sceptical at this point.
Fraudsters will take advantage and go injecting random people and requesting money
Finding yourself on a list and fearing the knock on the door. Can’t beat the tyranny classics.
I will answer the door naked. Maybe they will just go away
Don’t meet your families at Christmas but don’t worry we shall send the same person round to every house in the street wearing the same mask and using the same pen.
Do they really think people who have got this far
without a jab are going to go “oh hello, you’ve changed my mind sure”
I’m not convinced of this scheme but what’s with all the wet wipes in this thread complaining about people… Knocking on their front door!!!
Seriously, have redditors become that “” introverted”” that this is seen as an issue.
Because turning up at someone’s door is really going to get them to back down. This is ridiculous.
In the area I live in if someone turns up at your door with a needle in hand then you call the Police.
I doubt anyone who hasn’t been vaxxed will get it due to someone knocking their door offering it
If anything it’d likely just fuel their paranoia about the vaccine
Leave people alone, if they haven’t had it by now they clearly do not want it
If the vaccines worked we wouldn’t be in this position. What’s the point of the booster if we still have to follow restrictions? Someone’s about to get a huge chunk of taxpayers money to facilitate this new door to door idea.
*It’s mutated into a mild variant, quick, we need ways to flog all our remaining stock!*
They’ll get plenty of abuse from the type of YouTube uploader that loves a kick off with TV licence, police, shop assistants, etc
I think everybody *should* get it, but this is a step too far for me. The government can’t say in one breath that it’s individual choice, and then in the next breath start introducing vaccine passports and literally targeting peoples doorsteps if they *don’t* have it. The slippery slope argument starts to sound a bit more plausible here. A fallacy it may be but it far too often proves itself true.
If the vaccines reliably had a *substantial* effect on reducing transmission (50% reduction or more) I’d be all for pushing more non optional measures, but our current vaccines whilst helpful and arguably essential in the short term, don’t seem to solve the problem long term and a breakthrough that prevents transmission is needed.
Turning up on peoples doorsteps is a bit far for me considering the current vaccine is primarily to protect yourself rather than others. It seems to me if we want to stop the spread and protect others, more focus needs to be put into mask wearing and the *correct* mask, not some bullshit football team snood or something below your nose.
This is lunacy to me.
The potential for this to be abused is glaringly obvious but trusting a stranger at your door to inject you with something when you have no idea who they are what they are injecting?
At a point in time where fraud is so high.
We’ve been trained for years not to let people into our homes or trust that the gas man knocking your door is genuine etc. This process goes against all of that and will no doubt be met with resistance
Hilarious concept, my grandad is housebound, he was due to have his booster last week and no one showed up at all. I called his surgery and they said of the 47 people they had to do that day, 7 were done! Considering each vile has 20 doses that was a massive amount wasted, so I fail to see how they will turn up and jab the unwilling, when the willing are falling through the cracks.
There are certainly some people who haven’t got the vaccine due to lack of transport/rural locality/fear of sitting in crowded vaccination centres/etc, but I suspect that this number his a lot lower than the government believes it to be. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a good idea if they do it right (e.g. booking system rather than cold calling), but i highly doubt it’ll be worth the amount of money and resources that will be thrown at it to vaccinate (virtually) a handful of people in each area.
The usual DM asshattery. The same old clickbait. This is not a new story – the housebound disabled and elderly and their carers have been screaming for this for MONTHS now. Anyone who believes that anyone will be “forced” to take a vaccine is so dumb they deserve a lifetime subscription to the Daily Mail!
Ugh, reading articles on the DM website is pure cancer, with all the ads and picture inserts and a tiny narrow text panel.
Anyway. This is not about sending people around to particular individuals according to records, it’s about sending people door to door in neighbourhoods with overall low vaccination rates to offer vaccinations to anyone that wants them. I’m not a fan of this kind of thing, but there’s no compulsion and unvaccinated people are now almost entirely the source of Covid societal problems, so I think it’s fair enough.

i think everyone *should* get the vaccine but ngl this is just gonna make anti vaxx nutjobs even more fervent
Shall we stop tiptoeing around it? 90% of patients are unvaccinated in London hospitals. So perhaps this is the government trying to be a little more creative to ‘convince’ the people who refuse to get a vaccine so that others can actually have their elective surgeries and we can move on with our lives
Yes, some hi viz wearing, masked nonce knocking on my door will convince me..
Door to door is so quaint. I see the next stage being needle drones chasing the last anti-vaxers through their homes via the letterbox. Televising it will pay for the whole programme.
Kind of like ‘can’t pay we’ll take it away’
Maybe ‘Think it’s a farce, get jabbed up the arse’
Cheesy voiceover:
“Amelia and Aubergine are adamant they have had their 7th booster and are showing the QR code to the drone which is in a holding pattern while the NHS database is cross referenced” suitable suspense music plays. Fortunately Amelia is clear but Aubergine has tried to use Amelia’s code to fool the drone. What Aubergine doesn’t realise is a second drone has found its way through the gazebo and of course that’ll be no vaccine passport and no chablis on the slopes for Aubergine this year.
That is a step too far especially after all the info about being told to not opening your door, they’ve suddenly found themselves with a huge amount of vaccines that don’t work or the virus has weakened !
And who said we had human rights….. Like fuck the putting something inside of me that permanent and you take some changes I’m fucking sure might as well take growth hormone
It’s open to seriously dangerous fraud and I wouldn’t be in the least bit surprised if the people trying to force the vaccine get smacked. This is getting utterly ridiculous now.
If any unsolicited person comes to my house they normally leave double quick. I don’t need nor do I want people called jabbers knocking on my door. Surely these people should be called vaccinators and know what they’re doing. So they can shove their jibber jabber up Boris’s fat arse
They will be told to shove up their arse I don’t want their poison
I will refuse, this is a breach of basic human rights and a travesty to British freedom
This is what happens when you get rid of all your means of self defense…..
This sounds more like a “We know where you live” thing
