1. “Because our voters are selfish jerks and we’ll be out of office before we have a chance to stop exporting carbon”. That’s it. That’s the answer.

   I just finished reading a bunch of Americans complaining about Taylor Swift’s private jet, as though they aren’t in the top 10% of emitters. And by “they” I mean those specific commenters.
