Tuberville signals he’s backing down on most of his holds on top military nominees after bipartisan pressure

As wealthy donors and backers begin distancing themselves from Trump in favor of supporting Haley, Tuberville concedes that it’s less likely to install Trump loyalists to military posts via the hamfisted method he’s attempting. Thus, he will back down.
This is one of those things that lead me to an “imagine if a Democrat did this” thought experiment
> “But again, I’ve involved all my colleagues, we’ve had real good discussions about this, about the proper way to do this, because we do want to stand up for life and the taxpayers not having anything to do with abortion, and get these people that need to be promoted, promoted.”
I hate this man, from the bottom of my heart, for completely unnecessarily connecting two separate things, for turning this whole situation into a political circus, and, as a result, needlessly putting the entire country at risk.
I wish GOP voters would stop simply voting for whoever has the “R” next to their name and would do the bare minimum due diligence on what GOP politicians are actually doing.
He’s not backing down. What he’s doing is worse.
>Tuberville said he will not be lifting his hold on every nominee. Instead, he will be evaluating the “background” of each nominee whose confirmation has been delayed.
>“This started out as, obviously, abortion overreach and those things. Now, since we’ve had all this time, we’ve had different groups across Washington, DC, and the country that have evaluated all these military appointees,” he told reporters. “This is not a private moving to a sergeant and getting one more stripe. This is people that are running our military. I think that we need to make sure that people that are our generals and admirals should be vetted to some degree, but also understand that we need to get these people promoted, and it’s been a long time for some of them.”
>Pressed on whether the focus is on whether any of them have so-called “woke” interests in their backgrounds, such as diversity and inclusion programs, Tuberville said “some of it is, yeah. Some of it is.”
I’m wondering if he’s seen some internal polling that has him risking a primary challenge.
I hate this man with a burning, deep passion.
It was bad enough that he blocked military promotions..now this non-military clown thinks he’s going to EVALUATE promotions for people orders of magnitude brighter than he himself is?
I hope he trips over his own feet and falls down a deep, deep sewer.
Is there anybody out there with a shitty football team that he can make shittier? Please take him.
At this point I’d rather they go through with the rules change because he’s still going to hold back some appointments. They need to rub it in his face when they do it to.
Any rational Senate would boot him out of any position of power, too. He’s an idiot and a loose cannon. Good riddance to this trash
In my Foghorn Leghorn voice “I do declare !”
Turns out some republicans have to actually run, in districts they live in, so having Mr. Numbnuts over there dickin over the military isn’t something they wanna answer for.
He has the whole weekend for Anonymous “Donations” and offshore Bribes to convince him otherwise.
Wondering if he saw that enough republicans were going to back the senate motion. That would have probably given Democrats a nice attack ad about how they stepped up to support the military when Republicans failed so the party said enough. Interested to hear more
Tuberville: Anti- military, anti-American, traitorous POS.
Most being the key word. He’s going to try to hold out on the important positions hoping Trump wins.
he wants politicians to vet AF, who vets a dumbass like Tuberville and Co.?
Stupid bastard
If this guy doesn’t have FAS, I’ll eat my helmet
Sure, call back tommy when you actually have some patriotism and not a grandstand about “abortion”.
Assume he’s full of shit until the votes actually go through.
He said something about only blocking the woke promotions, and my guess is he’s going to discover most or all of them are woke.
If you read the article, this is essentially a nothing burger. Tuberville is going to “evaluate” the backgrounds of each candidate he is holding up. He will nitpick to find things he doesn’t like to reinforce his hold, but shift his justification away from abortion.
All this dipshit is doing is moving the ball from one hand to the other. It will still require the full senate voting to overrule him and push confirmations through.
Well, I’m still not backing down that this guy is an irredeemable scum bag that belongs in the waste bin of history
It’s a lie until it happens. Book it.
Do or do not. There is no “signaling”.
I think I speak for voters on both sides of the aisle when I say, what a piece of shit.
He’s not backing down. He’s just changing his reason for blocking the nominees from “something something abortion” to “we need to make sure the candidates aren’t woke”. They’re still getting blocked, but this buys him more time and takes some pressure off.
I fucking hate my senator. Motherfucker, if you thought you needed to do a background check, you could have started doing one a long fucking time ago.
You’re just stalling even more.
