Due to the heavy utilization of the railroad lines towards the east (Baikal Amur Magistral, BAM and Transsib)
Russia has planned to to reactivate the project to complete the Stalin-railroad in the north.
The Severomuysky Tunnel and the Chertov Most are so far east that
if you travel the same distance from Ukraine to the west, you end up in Canada.

The explosion of trains in the Severomuysky tunnel of the BAM is classified as a terrorist attack
According to Kommersant’s sources, investigators of the Eastern Interregional Investigation Department for Transport opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Terrorist Act”) regarding the explosion and fire of a train in the Severomuysky tunnel on the BAM, which occurred on November 29. As a source familiar with the investigation told Kommersant, a case has been opened against “unidentified persons.”
“It has been previously established that the fire in the fuel tank was the result of the detonation of an unidentified explosive device, presumably located under the car,” the source notes.
Previously, the structures of JSC Russian Railways officially reported that on November 29 at 17:20 Moscow time, on the Itykit-Okushikan section in Buryatia, while driving through a tunnel, smoke occurred in one of the tanks with diesel fuel. Some of the cars from the stopped train were taken outside, and the movement of trains along the BAM is carried out along a bypass section.
According to sources of the American television channel CNN, yesterday’s stop in train traffic was caused by sabotage by employees of the Security Service of Ukraine.
