He’s right about less VAR, it’s absolutely shite. End up talking about VAR decisions and its suitability more than refereeing decisions pre-VAR

Less VAR just leads to more bad decisions.
I personally think we need more VAR but give the VAR officials the power to make calls without the refs having to go to the screen.
Remove the ridiculous clear and obvious threshold and streamline the process.

That depends. If they would automate things that could work (offside, ball across the line or not). But at the moment VAR and the refs are just not working. The ref doesn’t judge and leaves it for VAR, and VAR doesn’t want to intervene, and you end up with huge mistakes.
He’s obviously right and I thikn everyone can see it.
The question is whether or not the people in charge are prepared to let it go so soon after implementing it.

The way he currently coaches; it would probably favour his teams (e.g. time-wasting, “leaving a bit in”).
He’s right. Keep it for the offsides but as for the rest of it the refs make the right decision most of the time and its the var that are changing it to a wrong decision.
If they want to keep it for other decisions then the on field ref should be allowed to decide when and if he wants to use the on field screen thing. If he’s not sure on something he shouldn’t have to make a decision to then have another ref who has different interpretations tell him he’s made a cock up when more often than not not the on field ref makes the correct less controversial decision

This can’t be right. I’ve been reliably informed that Howe is too classy to even suggest that maybe some refs are shit at their jobs.
lol of course he does, considering how aggressive NUFC players can be some games. I mean, Arsenal have their moments, but nothing close to Teams like Newcastle and City where some of their players are almost begging for a card.
I don’t want more or less VAR, I just want correct calls.

I wonder if eventually there will be something A.I driven for offsides that will do a better job.
It’s a weird mix because for the majority of goals you can’t really celebrate when you know it’ll be checked for a tackle that happened 30 seconds before or an offside etc. Obviously if it’s then right to rule out then work away but I can imagine it’s horrible for match going fans, players and even watching on telly it’s a balls not knowing whether it will count and whether you can actually celebrate.
give managers 3 chances to question a decision. If they are right and the decision was incorrect, they don’t lose their call. If they are wrong and the original decision was correct, they lose their call. Have the whole process mic’d up and broadcast on the screen in the stadium for fans and managers to observe the process. Honestly, it is not rocket science.
Also, interview the refs / VAR team post match.
